Lightbulb The worthless elements of Chrono Cross

I like the "magic" system in this game, but I hate the elements Hellsoul and Hellbound. Every other element has its uses, but these two stink. Sure they can cause instant kills, but it rarely works. I guess I wouldn't be bothered if they would at least do some damage when they don't score an instant kill, but that doesn't seem to be the case. They appear to be a total waste.

Agree? Disagree? Am I crazy?

I never use 'Death' style spells in any game, because they hardly ever work.

I agree with Lord Kane, but in FF8 the Deadly spells works very well...

They did? I never tryed them. It would be kind of rubbish though to take out the last boss in ten seconds, but that's kind of extreme.

what bothers me most is that your instant death won't work, or maybe , JUST MAYBE, but when the enemy does it, it's got a 100% hitrate, unless u got protection.... That goes for allmost all the rpg's i've played.

I will say in the defense of the elements in question, they do appear to have a high rate of affecting the target with Curse status. It would be better if it were Blind though.:eyes:

It's normally based on an experience difference with a random number added for good measure.

but it seems that those random numbers are randomly stacked AGAINST you....

While the laws of the random numbers never seem to work against your enemy.

Death spells are a waste of time... The whole idea of instantly killing an enemy is kinda annoying... I prefer having a little challenge when playing in RPGs... I guess what it comes down to is I never try to level up (as I don't go out of my way to level up) I never use cheats my first time around a game (anytime after that is fine till you get where the game gets good... then off they go) and using epsxe savestates to cheat is best on annoying platformers (such as MMX6) not RPGs.

I agree death spells are a waste of time
Don't rely you game on lluck
death spells by default has low hit percentage
time had proven it again and again
this is apply to most games
you should know it by now
