Better RPG: Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest?
Somehow, I think I know what the result is going to be already, but I am a masochist I guess. My vote goes to Dragon Quest. The games are usually higher quality than Final Fantasy. And the new Final Fantasies just plain suck.

on 8 bit nes days I would have said dw but since then my vote goes to ff. dw 3 and 4 were awesome back then and us english speakers never had the oppertunity to play ff2 and 3 on the nes. There are a lot of good ff games and final fantasy derivatives. (IE tactics, mana series). I liked 7 and 9 on the ps1 too.

I really like all the FF's I've played. Admittedly, there have been niggling points that annoy me:
FF4: Too freaking hard! I've never got past that damned elf. FF5: Off the top of my head none, I probs just haven't played it enough. FF6.... Acutaly can't think of any ![]() FF7: The way the characters changed from being Kawaii to proportional at vaious points throught the game. The rest was rockin tho. FF8: The entire %$"&*(! magic system really annoyed me. I cheated to complete it and got more enjoyment out of it that way. FF9: Little too easy, and a slightly more that usually predictable plotline. FF10: The fact that you can kill the final boss in one hit if your characters are powerfull enough. I never really go into the Dragon Quest games to be honest.

I like Dragon Quset/Dragon Warrior a lot, but it just can't surpass the FF series. So I voted for FF. But over in Japan, the Dragon Quest series is w-a-a-a-y more popular that the FF series. People were getting held up and mugged for the latest Dragon Quest games when they came out. BTW, I'll take care of the //s for you.

Yeah, I thought the poll would go like this. We need some more Japanese people in here.
![]() Dragon Quest 5 and 6 are where it's at though. I find the games to be MUCH better than the Final Fantasy equivalents, and since FF4, and FF6 were always my favorites, the vote had to go to DQ. sx/amiga, thanks for taking out the //s. |

I can't vote cause I haven't played Dragon Quest.
What kind of story does it have?

Dragon Quest games kick @$$ but because of FF4-6 I would have to side with FF's... if you had omitted even just FF6 I would have sided with DQ...
Snake there is an option there for you... do you not see the "what's dragon quest" option? DQ is varying storyline throughout each game... I haven't played 7 but I heard it was a tad repetitive.

The only DQ I don't like is V. Probably due to the translation. But overall I think DQ and FF are pretty different. So it's hard to choose.

Try erasing the ' after the slash.
I just have one other Dragon Quest story to tell though. In Japan, Dragon Quest games are required to come out on weekends. The reason is that many people skip school/jobs/etc. in order to wait in line to get a copy. You don't see that with Final Fantasy. |
