I'll advise you to get a PS2. You won't have to wait for anything as there are many games available already, in fact you'll have to catch up.

I'd say skip the X-Box, and get a Cube or a PS2. the X-Box seems to be somewhat... microsoft, sorry I mean buggy. This is going to discourage gamers and developers alike.

Well unlike the others I say you should buy the GameCube! Just wait a while and awesome games are gonna come out. You'll have Zelda, Metroid and Starfox. And in my point of view i think the graphics are better looking on the NGC

The PS2 just doesn't have the 3rd party support that its predecessor had. For God's sakes, get the GameCube. There is just no good reason for getting a PS2 unless you are just too impatient to wait until June for Nintendo's killer games. You basically have a choice right here and now.
Get the PS2 now, and get all the good games for PS2 made to date. Final Fantasy X Metal Gear Solid 2 Silent Hill 2 Onimusha Devil May Cry Or get the GameCube now, and get the games you know you will need when they come out. Resident Evil Eternal Darkness Metroid Prime Perfect Dark 0 Conker's Other Bad Fur Day Zelda Star Fox Adventures Mario Sunshine Final Fantasy Unlimited I can almost guarantee you right now that almost any decent game for PS2 or Xbox WILL be coming to GameCube from this day forward. However, there are MANY games for GameCube which will never see another console. The choice is entirely yours, but if you are a big time fan of any of the games listed, then you will just have to get a GameCube to play them on. However, the odds are VERY good that the next Metal Gear will be for Nintendo as well, and expect to see a LOT of Sega and Capcom games for GameCube as well as a healthy dishing from Square and Enix. The choice is yours, but choose wisely, and be mindful of the future. |

ok you've convinced me anyway ive seen the X-Box running 2 of its "killer apps" Halo and Gotham racer or whatever it is, and i was VERY unnimpressed, the graphics are grainy and blurred, but maybe ive just been using a moniter too longalso all these gamecube games dont interest me, ive never likes Zelda or conkers bad fur day, and perfect dark was pretty mediocre in my view. Resident evil is tempting but i would go for FFX over the FF for the gamecube, i just thought that the gamecube might be a bit more mature but it seems it has all teh same types of game as the N64 :/

Well, if my brother's one impresses me, I might pick one up, but I already have one current Gen console, so I'll probs wait a bit.

Darkhound, keep in mind that the ONLY RPG series that the PS2 has to offer is Final Fantasy. Nintendo has some of the RPG greats.
Dragon Quest VIII (highly likely to be GameCube bound) Earthbound (it's coming.) Breath of Fire (Capcom and Nintendo have been VERY close as of late.) Seriously, if you think that the Gamecube has ANY similarities with the N64, then you are seriously mistaken. You might also want to check out the Eternal Darkness previews as well. If you are a Resident Evil or Silent Hill fan, you will love this game. Keep in mind also, that if you DO want to play Resident Evil, you will have to do it on the GameCube. Capcom only makes those games for GameCube. In essence, I am saying this: GameCube! Final Fantasy XI! Final Fantasy Unlimited! Devil May Cry 2! Grand Theft Auto 3! Metal Gear Solid 3! Dragon Quest VIII! Resident Evil! Need I say more? GTA3 may yet be released on GameCube. It will remain to be seen at this year's E3. Dragon Quest VIII is still in the air, but it is looking like GameCube is the favorite right now. Enix and Nintendo are still pretty close, and rumor has it that Enix hates the PS2. Metal Gear Solid 3, as well as whatever project Hideo Kojima is working on right now are almost guaranteed to be for GameCube. Kojima himself said as much. Expect to see a lot of Final Fantasy on the GameCube. Probably not FFX, but probably a lot of the future games. Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and the like are made by Capcom. Capcom actually made the last two Zelda games for GBC. Don't expect to see Capcom and Nintendo break up with eachother anytime soon. If you liked DMC, a sequel will probably be for GameCube. |

Only RPGs on the PS2 is Final Fantasy? Piffle! There is broadcasting the truth and there is being a fanboy.
IIRC, FFXI is due only on PS2 and PC. As to other RPGs? Grandia 2 is being released soon, and these were obtained from an RPG-a-holic website: Arc the Lad Online (working title) - 2002, Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits - Fall, Dragon Quest VIII March 2004 Enix, Final Fantasy XII Q3 2003?, G-Breaker 3rd Cloud Taisen April, Generation of Chaos Next April 25 Grandia Xtreme October 30, Kingdom Hearts September 17, Legaia: Duel Saga October 1, Sakura Taisen Online 2002?, Skies of Arcadia (Eternal Arcadia) 2003 Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time Q4 2002?, Suikoden III Summer, Summoner 2 September 10, Tales of Destiny 2 (tentative) Q4 2002, Xenosaga, Wild ARMs Advanced 3rd.
