...please don't make me hearl (please dont take offence to it, its just my opinion)! Do NOT get Chronicles. get if you like waiting for the batte to load up. Get the SNES version of that instead.
To answer your question, I suggest FF7. That game was my favorite, heh it almost made me cry at one point . I'm playing FF8 now its a great game too but I have to start all over again (My HD messed up I have the PC ver btw).

FF7 was the first PSX game I had ever bought and I was not at all dissapointed. It had an incredible story to it that got you hooked, playing for hours, waiting to find out what happened next. I would definitely suggest buying this one first.
FF8 was somewhat of a strange game. It seemed like you almost had to know what you were doing at the beginning of the game and plan it out correctly or risk getting totally screwed at later parts in the game because your characters are too weak. I remember playing the game and getting as far as that battle with Fujin and Raijin after obtaining the Ragnorak and simply not being able to beat them, no matter what I did. If you don't "lock" each user to their own Guardian Force and draw the hell out of every enemy you encounter, your characters seem to be very weak. I also didn't like how the enemies supposedly didn't run off of a area-level system. They were meant to be at whatever level neccessary for your characters to handle them. Where's the challenge in that??? It also always made the bosses seem 10x more powerful than they should have been. However, I must admit, despite it's quirks, FF8 was a fun game. I especially loved the introduction of the card mini-game and how you could interact with virtually everybody! FF9, I didn't get very far in. Quite frankly, it sucked... The game did seem to "kiddy" to me. Thee was nothing really unique to it, other other than the class system and even if I wanted that, I played Tactics. Basically FF9 was bland and had no story to it. Well, you have my opinion, now

You got 8...? Awww... I'm surprised at the amount of FF8 fans... I personally rank FF8 last out of all the American releases of the FF series... Sure it was pretty... But the story was kinda boring and I really hated the drawing and junctioning system. Out of those 3 I would recommend FF7, then FF9, then FF8.
In order of ALL US FF releases (FFT, and gameboy versions not included) I would say: FF6, FF7, FF4, FF9, FF5, FF1, FF8

It seems that FF8 has a kinda love/hate thing. A lot of people like it, but hate the battle system, or hate Rinoa or some reason. Go with 7, that is almost universally liked by ff fans. 8/9 are both a bit so/so for most

....
imo FF IX was one of teh best out of 7,8,9. 8 sucked because the storyline was too "normal". i mean a school and ****, come on....and when the other FFs [7 and 9 at least] went into the big epic thing, 8 just kinda sat there and was boring, no really big stuff. 9 i thought was very good and ahd a good stroy and characters etc that you could relate to

What the hell? FF8's story was far from normal. It had a school but the school was far from normal.
This is the order I place the FF games: FF6, FF7, FF4, FF8, FF5, FF1, FF9 Last edited by DarkAurora; March 21st, 2002 at 15:33. |

ok
ok maybe its not normal so to speak, but its pretty damn crap and boring when compared to the other FFs. I mean think about it, every FF has its strong points
Character, we got Cloud, Sephiroth, Barret and Vivi, Zidane, Quina and freya and all that And FF8 has....squall, probably once of teh worst characters in the FFs ive played, and then Zell, Siefer etc, not very appealing when placed next to the others. Then theres the battles, and like ppl have said, you can get way to stong to early, i mean lol i had guys taking off 1000-1500 just aftger getting out of the school when teh enemies had about 100 health. Then theres teh movies, yeah FF8 had some kick ass ones like when the Ragnarok broke through the sheild of pandora etc, clawing its way in, but tbh thats the only movie i can remember from it. Whereas i can remember loads from the other FFs |
