Dragon Age: Origins no co-op?

I thought this game was having 4 players co-op after seeing vids of many peeps killing this dragon etc.

now I hear that it doesn't??

Is this true? :@

It's a single player RPG from Bioware, which are famous for making single player RPG's.

Yeah, there's no multiplayer

3rd person and there should also be an overhead view during bigger battles, IIRC.

No, nothing like Fable.
Everything like Baldur's Gate or KoToR.

And it is a huge pet peeve of mine that everytime someone makes a great single player game, someone inevtiably comes along and says "aww, no multi?". Multiplayer does not make a good game.

"Multiplayer does not make a good game."

He didn't say that. Don't put words into his mouth. Go fight your crusade on some other battlefield.

Multiplayer does help with the replayability though.

I agree there to much multiplayer nagging, i'm more of a singleplayer supporter.

Multiplayer is the what's expected these days. I don't care either way, but some gameplay styles don't do well with multiplay. It all depends.

i saw an interview with the devs said there is multiplayer like it was in baldurs gate series since it had a huge fan base... sure the interview was 6 months ago, i guess the devs wanted to be total jerks and changed their mind

Wow, I thought single-player RPGs were about immersion, and choices. I don't see how putting multiplayer would help in that regard. Sure some games have em, the Tales and Mana series comes to mind. But they're all a single-track linear experience in which all you do is watch some story unfold, beat up monsters with a friend, then watch more story unfold. The only part you're doing together is whacking the enemies.

It's not that multiplayer can't work, but for a very story and choice driven game like Dragon Age, letting another person into the action may be determinant to the whole experience. So let multiplayer stay on action-based pseudorpgs and let single player rpgs immerse players in a fate of their own individual choice.

Well, if it's multiplayer like in Baldur's Gate, it might as well not be in DA.

Some games are meant to have multiplayer and others we wish had them. Like playing Mass Effect or Fallout 3 sometimes I wonder how multiplayer would enhance the game. But honestly I like playing Fallout 3 alone not with Fawke or the other characters that come along. But there should be an option of having a friend play along for those who like playing with others.

Well, you wouldn't gain anything from player Multiplayer over the net, really. Or at least, not without some *significant* changes.
With the current game, the only way it would work would be by adding "co-op". Having different players each control only one character in the party.

In multiplayer : The problem is that since one player has to make the choices to advance the story, it would probably be the guy who created the game, in which case everyone else is simply a puppet who follows him around. Not very fun, may as well play alone.

So it leaves real-life, the way Co-Op is (usually) meant to be played. The only thing is, if you want to play Dragon Age in co-op, the only thing you need to do is pass the controller along. Separate the characters, decide who plays what, then pass the controller when you're done choosing the actions you want to do.

It won't be the most "clean" co-op ever, but I'm not exactly what else you could do.

(The only "real" multiplayer mode I could see working would be if they completely forgot about the SP Storyline and gave players the ability to make their own campaigns and run them as a D&D game. Keep the engine and mechanics made for DA, but let players create+run (as a DM) their own storylines.)

OK so i just played the game for 6+ hours and im statisfied! Great story, decent graphics, though combat is fun but a bit awkard it's mmo like... where i prefer the more interactive fable style like, where u have to continue to press buttons for an action and block etc.

Though I still think co-op would be possible since you have a team a lot of the time.

I give it a 7.5 so far.
