If you have homebrew on your wii do not update
If you have homebrew on your wii do not update to wii menu 4.2 here's what it does - Deletes most homebrew. - Now uses IOS70. (No Preloader due to that) - Wii Shop Channel updated. Use WiiSCU to update the shop channel. Use NUS Downloader to download the Wii Shop Channel v17 - Most of the IOS's have been updated or stubbed. - Updates your boot2 to boot2v4 (what LU64+'s have). (That means no downgrading of any IOS, and due to that, you can't revert back to your old System Menu. So BootMii as boot2 installed is removed.)

i'll have to let my brother know about this. what version does Metroid Prime Trilogy (UK) require though? and are the rumours that it doesn't like working with softmods true? or is it bull****?

Metroid Prime Trilogy (NTSC) runs fine on my Wii. I am using firmware 4.0U.

I've just been lazy, that's all. When 4.1 was made available, I decided to ignore it and not update because I didn't feel like searching around for patches. It's not like it offered any actual enhancements anyway. 4.0 allows channel installation on SD cards and enables SDHC, so updating to 4.0 was a good move.

*Shrug* Guess I'm a bit of a sucker for being on the latest update, when it has no negatives, like 4.2, when properly updated. ![]() Btw, Preloader .29 works fine if you force IOS 60 to be the System Menu IOS as well.

Ah, good to know. A Homebrew Channel update occured within a few hours of 4.2's release. I didn't find a changelog, but I did notice that HackMii, dvdx, and of course the HBC itself were updated. For 4.2 I presume. ![]() As a side note, I don't like the new HBC look. The fonts and the aspect ratio of the homebrew icons seem a bit "off" or at least very "un-wiish".
