Indeed and totally agree there but i fear this time its going to be a bit different... the reason for that is because the 360 + FFXIII option will be available too... and since the 360 isn´t suffering from the RROD that much atm people could see it as a cheaper option still not to mention that there´s still a easy option to run backups on a Xbox 360 with a simple drive flash.

another reason is that you rarely find a PS3 lower than 250€ used so + FFXIII you go over 300€ already while a used 360 is available at many places here even at a price tag of 150€ or even cheaper which makes a huge difference still.

check this out or this and this one even if is German you still can see the price of it.

..... and to be even more hardcore check out his one which is definitelly cheaper than many used PS2 consoles! for just 70€!!!!

70€ + 30€(used HDD) = 100 = Unbeatable

and if some of you are crazy for console mod/repairs like me you could buy this one and like in my case i would need less than 10 minutes to fix it.

My post meant that there is a bundle coming with the release of FFXIII.
Imagine a white PS3 with a FFXIII logo on it.

Japan would be all over it, nobody can't deny that.

of course!!!! a slim PS3 with a FFXIII logo = Win that´s for sure.. but what i meant is that when people have a small budget(which is the case of many around the world atm) a 360 + FFXIII combination is probably the only way they have to get there hands on the game and play it.

They didn't say they were losing money because they are selling PS3 at a price point lower than its actual manufacturing cost. The actual cost of production of a PS3 unit should be somewhere closer to $200, with the Cell BE and the GPU at $120 in total.

But that means they get like $20 - $50 profit for every unit sold without regards to transit costs and the likes... And up until now, they haven't been able to pay back the R&D cost so it's money lost still until they've gained back those millions they spent on R&D.

Why would Sony lie about losing money? To make you feel like you got a good deal, of course!

Star Ocean 4 had 3 discs. It was a small game.

...but, this isn't a case like ffvii, viii or ix where yo swap the discs once as you progress. Oh no.
**** no.

On the xbox 360, if you want to enter a room, do some item synthesis, travel between the 2 important locations in the game (EN II and Gold Saucer)

You have to switch the discs. Again ...and again ...and again ...and again ...and again ...and again ..and again ...and again ...and again..and again ..and again ..and again ..and again

Now ...imagine the FFXIII experience.

I'm buying a ps3.

It's not going to be like this at all. That would be foolish. The core game is going to be on every disc. The story-critical content is what will require the disc changes.

you haven´t played previous FF games on the playstation 1 or MGS4 on the PS3 don´t you? because if that were the case you would know that what you said on that post is totally wrong... am not here to defend the Xbox 360 but am a big Final fantasy fan myself and one thing i´ve learned from FF on the playstation and that´s the fact that i never cared to swap discs as it just takes few secs... i know the PS3 can hold the entire game on a disc but do we know how many installations need to be done???? and just like MGS4 you´re faced with annoying installations that takes up to 5 minutes each time you want to play a previous chapter? no way!!!

My point still stands.

Remember it is a PS3 exclusive in Japan, and they will eat it like no other country.

Yes now blu-ray players are cheaper. As I stated at the time when I bought my PS3, it was cheaper to buy a PS3 than a aftermarket blu-ray player.

And not interested in blu-ray? I dont buy movies on DVD anymore, unless they dont offer blu-ray. If its sold out, Ill come back another day. Also the reason I bought my HP HDX18. It comes with a blu-ray player. So when Im working on the road, I can watch all the blu-ray movies I own. Have you watched many blu-ray movies vs DVDs?

MGS4 was an intentional annoyance. They could have let you install all chapters at once and just play through linearly, but... Kojima thought that playing for multiple hours is not good for your health so you have to take a break in between chapters. MGO also has a warning or "reminder" every half an hour.

Anyway, 360 can install the complete game on its HDD, all of the discs, too. That's probably more superior to what the PS3 has. The downside is that the HDD costs like a fortune, and the highest it goes to is 120GB.

I've completed nearly every jrpg ever released. Only dragon warrior 7 sucked enough balls to hinder me.

...and you totally misread my post.

Only the legend of dragoon required BACKSWAPPING of discs.

Not disc changing but swapping down. From disc 3 to 2 ...every time you want to play some COSS.

MGS4's install times were fine. gives you time to grab a sandwich ..It didn't require you to re-install every 3-4 minutes like star ocean requires you to change discs.

That's actually a big statement of your part Kaizen.
Not saying that's impossible, but it means a lot.

Would like to see a list someday.

There are only a few I haven't completely finished myself. I don't comprehend Japanese so that limits me to games actually released here or fan translations. I can think of worse JRPGs then Dragon Warrior 7 though.

Oh, it was terrible indeed. I finished it, but I hacked it to death. Complete garbage.

First install is 8 minutes( the 4 gig one) and the other istalls are 1-3 minutes long I believe. Barely noticeable.

No. He meant 13 because you know, there is actually a demo and gameplay videos of that. Unlike Versus.
