The trailer is out and the game is looking pretty okay. Nice lack of jaggies and the character models look fairly crisp. Games out in November in the States.

Not bad if you haven't already played the game.

I'd like to see remasterings of the metal gear solid series.

Only 1 and maybe mgs2 qualify for remastering.

Why would it use Quincunx? Quincunx is 2xAA with an extra filter, they already said they were using just 2xaa. Quincunx still gives the performance hit of 2xaa, but has the edges of 4xaa just with extra blurriness of the textures and stuff.

Plus the game is old as hell, and they also said that they were porting the game and they are planning on doing a few little extra touch ups. If anything the ps3 should be able to do 1080p. the 7800gtx can do Half Life 2 with way more than 2xaa.

Because QuinCunx is used on many PS3 games.

Comparison shot of the original PS2 version and the new remastered version. From a distance it is hard-ish to tell but up closer it is certainly a marked improvement. Lighting and colours seem to be improved a bit and makes the backdrop look much more detailed.

All I would like to know now is a comparison shot (done in similar style) of PCSX2 showing the native and bumped resolution (I'd do one, but I have neither the horsepower nor the game to complete such a task).

If someone is quick about it, one could post almost identical pics of gow2 in pcsx2 in kotaku's comment the section, and the kotaku staff might even add it to their article giving pcsx2 some publicity, and who ever posted it some thanks.

Maybe a bit of a long shot, but who knows.

Hmm... the shots from the collection version look very washed out and bright... are they using full RGB range output? I think it totally kills the atmosphere of the game. Now the game is overbright in a bad way. Polygon and texture clarity are top-notch but the overbright is so much of a deal breaker. I like high-contrast stuffs more when it comes to high definition... you know... an HDTV should at least have that kind of color range.

Lord of Darkness, it's awesome how after three years of suffering a poor library of games on a system for which people paid obscene amounts of money, all it takes for Sony to make them squeal like schoolgirls is to release a remastered version of two games that belonged to the previous generation~.

And of course, people begin daydreaming about even more remakes (FF included!) instead of demanding actual new games. I guess some things never change~. =o

That would be great. Also, if someone wants to make some personal comparisons or write an interesting article about it I'd certainly consider it nice front page material for here

I actually took a PCSX2 screenie at the same exact spot last time, here it is:

Using PCSX2 r1888 and GSDX 1076m, 1280x720 and internal res of around 4096xx4096 i think (can't remember). Missing graphical element is shadow and bloom/post filter effects. Oh and WIdescreen and progressive scan enabled in teh game.

True. Instead of remaking games, they should be making FF13, FFv13, FF14 and GoW3. Oh wait...

Great color contrast and shadowing, absolute sharpness, and obviously much better than that "remastered" screenshot. I hope that's just because they're taking the shots with a digital camera snapping an LCD screen... or I'll be mighty disappointed.

Nice nice nice, Viper. Great job. Looks superior to the ps3 version in all the ways runawayprisoner mentioned above.

Now we just need to cross our fingers and hope their staff takes notice. Maybe you could supplement your post there by explicitly offering that photo to them for their use.
Hey if it does get to be an addition to the kotaku article, you will also get your name mentioned in the various forum news sites and on pcsx2.net's front page.

and it runs 30fps 3d (60FPS emulation) even on my crappy hardware (well, it slows down when lot's of sprites/special effects due to the very high internal render resolution). I can't really say it's superior since it lacks the bloom and shadow effects as wella s some fog elements i think, as i used GSDX 1076m in which removes em. Using other GSDX versions in my system combined with high internal render makes the post process effects go offset the 3d models (ghosting effect), and regardless of which version, still no shadows (unless software mode).
The rest of the screenies here:
Post your PCSX2 Screenshots Here!

Also a video sample, notice the soft bloom and shadows are not visible:

EDIT:
Staff takes notice?

EDIT2:
Oh the kotaku one, i did posted there as well as the link for the pic.
