Just a little headsup, I've been messing with it and I just set everything to the max settings, which I think are a tad ridiculous. I ended up hardly getting into the game due to harddrive thrashing. My RAM usage shot through the 2GB roof and I was lucky enough being able to alttab back to windows after a few minutes. Be careful with the settings is my advise ![]() And those framerates of Last R. are rather painful. I wonder if it's due to them using wrong settings. I tried the demo some time ago and I remember that having max view distance killed the FPS. It was smooth as butter as soon as I halved it or so.

I max the game @1680x1050 with 2xAA and VSync (both enabled through an nHancer profile) and the game runs pretty smooth at 60-40 FPS most of the time occasionally dropping a fair bit in large battles (down to like 23-17FPS) for short moments but as it's only whilst showing the same action for like the hundredth time I don't care...my average FPS is easily like 50 or so.

Maybe it is indeed a problem with ATI gpus(or rather, the game having problems with them). I don't have any slowdown with settings at max. (1440x900, by the way. Maybe you are using a far higher resolution?)

Or do like me and put all minimum settings.

I think I'll have to follow Exodus' advise. The performance was quite a disaster. Going back to 15 fps in battle and such. I did max out everything with the exception of the both LOD sliders, which were halfway. Maybe I should lower them even more, didn't have enough time for it because of my addiction to grid The game does interest me, even though in the demo I now remember what I found confusing: I could hire a crapload of soldiers of which I had no clue what to look for in them.

How is GRID? Is it like a Gran Turismo for PC, or less about customization? Quote:

It's the game Need for Speed fans were waiting for for years. It's a really great and challenging track racer featuring real drivers, at least in the DTM class. It features real tracks and some nicely modeled city tracks in the US (Washing, San Francisco, among others) and races in Japanese harbours (Yokohama). I'm still looking for some sailors to run over. The main game is where you start as a rookie and have to work yourself up by gaining reputation. You gain more reputation determined by the amount of electronic help you use and the difficulty level. Also locking your camera to first person gives you a marginal increase. Marginal indeed, as I don't see much of a point in turning off too many things as it can make things difficult quickly. Besides, who want to turn off traction control when playing on keyboard? Mind, a gamepad, what I use, is advised. Racing is solid but a tad arcadish, that's how the game is simply set up. However, don't expect to blow through every race without using the brake. It's NOT NFS, and you will need to find the right approach to corners. So well, in the world tour your races are split up between the three continents, Europe, US and Japan. Each feature their own popular races so it gives quite the nice variety. The more you win the more reputation and money you get. With those you can get better sponsors and better cars, leading to more reputation and more money. Reputation also unlocks new races. Sponsors have specific target requirements for each race (like finishing in the top three), if you make it you get extra money. At the end of each season there's a terribly unforgiving 24 minutes of Le Mans, my least favorite aspect of the game. Right now I'm at the point where I've got a co-driver in my team, so I'm also trying to build a nice racing team. I find it highly enjoying. Graphics and details are great, but also well scalable I think. It's a rather optimized game. Still, it certainly isn't a Gran Turismo, in any way. It is however a great racer with some cool and well implemented physics that has a nice balance between realism and exciting racing. It's also darn challenging, as some cars are hard to master and a ***** to corner. There's a good demo out, I suggest you to download it. It gives a good impression of the racing in the game. The world tour stuff which is the main single player, well, you just read it

I see. Well, it sounds like there's at least a point to the game, which is nice. Once I finish with Last Remnant I might give the demo a try. I'm usually not a driving game player, but maybe I'll find myself in the mood. I read there's DLC for consoles that add new cars - are they available and free for PC?

Bought Bioshock two days ago... Its pretty awesome except the spawning enemies get on my nerves... Oh well, shock and smack! ![]() Haven't gone very far yet but so far I'd 8/10, sluggish controls, no running and spawning enemies are the minus side....

Does HAWX have a flight sim element in it? I'm eager to try it out cuz the last flying game I played was F-16 Flight Simulator for Win95, it was pretty good.

Indeed The freakin' plane's handling like a sports car, the pitching, diving or ascent is super-responsive. The game's too easy, its basically doing everything for me, don't even have to worry about stalling, going too fast, high G-forces or anything! I saw stuff like this on the net too, so I started the game on hard difficulty right off the bat, but I still didn't have any problems completing the first 3 missions.

It's a real shame that EA swallowed Jane's Combat Simulations, they made the best Combat Flight sims. USAF was awesome, unfortunately it's badly dated (also the only game I have seen where cheats form a part of the game from the start where you just have to select to use it or not (sure other games have a cheat menu but you still need to find the correct code first)). I must say I still found HawX fun though and it's the best since USAF eventhough that's not saying much.

HawX is a fun game, but it's severely hindered by forcing that 3rd person view upon players. I want to be able to stall my plane in first person if I want to. It's a nice slick flight shooter, but in my opinion it's not as good as Ace Combat. The plane feels too smooth.

When it comes to flight sims i can say there's a game i like when we talk about Ace Combat that's a different story :P (especially 3), anyway i found hawx to be a rip off of both ace combat (in normal flight mode) and macross vfx2 (with advance assist turned off), as for the difficulty it feels like easy on the elite setting... and to not be able to stall big fail (btw except for the training mission where the game forces you to turn of that "advance assist mode" i didn't use it once in the whole game )

That view is one of the strangest things ever and it's super hard and retarded to play that way...the only way I completed those missions was looping like crazy and firing missiles at random.

I give hawx a 9/10 its a lil repetetive but I guess how much different could you really make it your stuck in a plane, but I thought visuals and gameplay overall were pretty fun specially playing with ppl online to complete missions and still be able to level up as if you were playing campaign mode so all in all I was happy I purchased it,pretty good game for only 40 dollars brand new.
