it causes 0 because of affinity there are lot's of things you need to increase before you gain enough power to cause 100+ damage

Yeah, something weird like that. Made for too much grinding - not my cup of tee.

It wasn't bad. It had a new feeling to it and the graphics, story, sound and the little music it had wasn't bad. But it wasn't brilliant either, in anything.

BTW, I'm not seeing enough of Xenogears being mentioned. I should force everyone here to play it by me stapling their eyes open, krazy glue your fingers to your gamepad, shackle your wrists and ankles to the couch and pop in an IV filled with coffee+various energy drinks.

Seriously, if you haven't played Xenogears yet and you're in the mood for a classic RPG, go find a copy and play it. Greatest RPG ever.

Ah yes, whichever inbred bastard thought of that "feature" should be stabbed with a brick for wasting what could've possibly be one of the best games ever if it weren't for that boring grind. I promised myself that one day I'll play it with cheats to eliminate the snoozefest of those battles.

That's because you don't know how to play it... Have you used the workshop properly ? There's nothing difficult in this game. And you don't really need to grind if you play your cards right. And some note.. You really gotta pay attention in the weapon type... Some weapons doesn't do damage to certain kinds of monsters.
The only thing difficult are some evolve or die challenges. I almost went nuts to get little green man grade in all of em.

Must be Star Ocean: The Second Story.

I've picked that one because among my fav' games it's probably the one i've played the most.

But,

Xenogears
Tales of Destiny II (Eternia)
Phantasy Star II
Shining Force II
MUSHA
Thunder Force III
ESPrade
Battle Garegga
Streets of Rage II
DOOM

...come very close.

It's not a classic, but it is an awesome game. Everything in it is great. I don't know why people complain about it. It requires the use of the brain though, and also you must read the whole tutorial to play it properly. The workshop system is totally awesome, I remember I used to create some damn cool weapons.

Another important thing are the combos. Anyone unable to combo in battles should just quit this game. Neverthless, all I remember is that this game gave me 100+ hours of pure fun.

Phantasy Star 1 was the first j-rpg I played and Ultima 7 the first western rpg. The first experience is always the best, at least that's how it worked for me. I still remember all the excitement when playing those games. Heh. Good old times.

Phantasy Star II was my first j-rpg and I still play it sometimes.
To me the first PS is the ancestor of all 'space-opera-j-rpgs'. Love it.
