ive always preferred castlevania SotN to that but its probably because i played it before i played SM, which is still a great game though.

The Pokémon Games for Game Boy, Harry Potter games of GBC and PS1, Wario Land 3, Súper Mario Bros Deluxe, Battle Realms, Gran Turismo 2, Euro Racer, New Súper Mario Bros, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue (for DS), NintenDogs, Mario Kart DS (and Wii) and Súper Smash Bros Brawl. These are my favourite games, but I like more my games of GBC and PS1.

Sonic 2 & Phantasy Star IV on the Genesis, & Super Mario Brothers 3 on the SNES. (edit - it was on the NES originally, I know, but I played it on the compilation on the SNES @_@)

I also have a huge love/hate relationship with Trauma Center on the DS... see my sig.

For me, the new castlevania's after Super Castlevania IV, where actually a substitute for the metroid games - since it borrowed their game-system with a fixed map to explore and finding items to get access to new areas and bosses and so on.

The first Castlevania to have RPG elements and exploration on a big map was Castlevania 2: Simons Quest for the nes. Way back in 1987. A year after Metroid 1. SOTN was not the first one =o

I know that, though i would call it adventure-elements and not rpg-elements.
And in a way that is also similar to the metroid-layout, but it isn't quite the same likeliness as the SOTN and gba and nds-castlevanias where to the older metroids

"Your favourite game" (singular) must have an insanely long and overcomplicated title then

there is one thing SM has over castlevania SotN, the difficulty. SotN is an incredible game imo but it is way too easy, while there are ways to handicap yourself in SotN, they only gets you so far, so in the end i found SM to be far more challenging.

I have played games on every multi-game console ever made and pc wasn't even my first system (TI was) but it has my most favorite games though. I like too many games to list here so I just listed my very top games and some console games come in third and fourth place.

One of the games listed wasn't in either of the games type lists mentioned and that is Dune. Dune is a adventure/TBS where you normally play the game as a fp adventure but you go to a top down view to maneuver troops to defeat the Harkonen. You get the Fremen as allies through an adventure game along with going through the story of Dune.
