Well, that's more than likely CG. Gameplay is this: ![]() And it's nothing ground-breaking in terms of visuals imo. MGS4 would beat this even in terms of CG, and not that MGS4 has that many CGs to begin with. Even a normal scene in MGS4 is breathtaking enough. ![]() Now then... when S-E has reached that (^) kind of quality for gameplay alone, let me know. ;p

Well, S-E has (arguably) not been the best when it comes to real-time renders. They might win some art direction awards, but not with real-time awards. ![]() If you want truly breathtaking graphics, you should find them in Crysis, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, or Metal Gear Solid 4 and the likes. Fun fact: most, if not all, of the best real-time render games are FPS. The only exception I've found might be Gran Turismo 5.

![]() *vents opened, cooling process completed in 5, 4, 3...* ![]() *...2, 1, cooling completed.* Luckily for us PS3 owners the fact that The Last Remnant which was also supposed to be crapbox exclusive is now coming to PS3 too along with PC version... So it just might be that this game will also shore on PS3 at some point. It would just be foolish for S-E to not port it to PS3 no matter how much failsoft is paying them!

1. too expensive 2. no good games of note. i would describe those reasons and my view of your post in a different way but as i said on another board: Quote:
while i'm glad it's coming out on the 360, namco have decided to change the artstyle and menus for the US/EU releases so i'm pissed off at that. i have yet to play any other SO games apart from SO1 (played the SFC one and own first departure on PSP)

It's their game, so let them make the decision.Quote:
And not that I really care since I already have a 360 for this. I'd prefer this game to be exclusive to 360 or PS3, and to actually look or play well instead of being a half-arse job.

...And that leads to third: I'm boycotting failsoft(microsoft) products with a decision NOT to buy ANY of their products! And as far as I know the changed artstyle and menus mean only that the heavily anime styled faces in the bottom of the battle screen as well as the main menu are going to be switched into versions of the actual game style. Not that big of a loss, when I saw the images of the original japanese version and the images of the version coming to west I like the west version better... Western version: ![]() Japanese version: ![]() See what I mean, those face icons in the bottom, which looks better?

After the gut-punch that was the last 20% of SO3, it's kind of depressing to see a new game in the franchise. It looks beautiful and will play great, but it's kind of disheartening when you know how it ends. That's true with most prequels, though.

S-E just decided to go exclusive with them for a few games. That's all. You should have known this a while ago if you were truly a Star Ocean fan... because I remember them saying that Star Ocean 4 would be 360 exclusive like a few years ago. ![]() Quote:
IMO, health bars and magic bars as a floating rectangle on top of the character or to the side of the character would be more "modern" and practical. The fixed menu makes viewing the battle stage a little bit hard. Aside from that, though, game looks like total **** compared to most current 360 titles. Only the CG part looks good, but then again, some games look just as good as the CG part of SO4, but those games run in real-time. S-E has run into a technical wall lately, it seems.

And I actually like it, never tought it made playing any harder or annoying... Its easy to see the situation of the whole group as they're not all in the screen the whole time, especially as battles have always been fast paced in star oceans. And never really cared about graphics and those look more than good enough! But what do you mean run in real-time, star oceans have always had real time battles, not turn based! ![]() Its also nice to see that they went back to 4 character groups unlike in SO3 with only 3 chars... I also hope the healer aspect is back!
