Dead Rising 2 - it's alive
Dead Rising 2: It's Real And It's Spectacular - Kotaku Australia Capcom has announced that Dead Rising 2 is confirmed after a video got out on the net displaying a trailer of the new game. This trailer was labeled 'fake' due to some content from the first game, but it also contained some footage not seen before, namely the lead protagonist in one of those gladiator balls, mowing over zombies. The new setting is in a fictional place called 'Fortune City' a Vegas-esque place with casino's, will take place several years after the incident in Willmete Mall and will sport hundreds and thousands of zombies. Frank West, the hero from the first game will not be the lead in the sequel, instead what appears to be a regular guy, who is speculated to be a stunt driver will be taking it upon himself to wreak havoc on the zombie populace. It also appears that cameras will not be a part of his character, as the camera is what made Frank West unique, and the new guy will most likely have his own special set of moves or features to make him unique. Dead Rising 2 will be multi platform, for the 360, PS3 and PC. ![]() ![]() ![]() Personally I am really excited about this news, as the first game, despite its gripes with some design elements was a heck of a ride and a great game overall. This is one game to look out for. Last edited by snickothemule; February 10th, 2009 at 00:18.. |

This ought to be fun, especially since it'll have a PC version. All we need is 2-player coop like in ye olde days.

I'm getting some pretty serious PC-nerd wood over Capcom lately. They're being very cool. I'm going to make a point of buying their PC games.

That person sucks at holding a camera. I guess he never heard of a Tripod or a video capture device that doesn't suck. I couldn't really see ****. Anyways, I won't be buying this if Capcom doesn't fix the problem of the text being too small on non-HD/non-big screen TVs. It just makes the game not fun, and reading the text is essential in getting through the game. They still haven't released an update for the first game that addresses this issue, and at this point, they never will despite knowing of thousands of dissapointed customers with the same issue as me. I still haven't finished the first game because of this annoyance. The text just isn't legible on my 27 inch TV screen (which I hardly consider a small TV). That's the main problem with developers of games for the 360. Every game that I have/played has incredibly small text that is barely readable. They must think that everyone who has a 360 has a 60 inch TV. BTW: Is anyone else experiencing the problem of having your paragraphs merged into one, or is it just me?

Don't expect them to worry too much about sdtv's though.

Damn. PC gaming isn't my cup of tea. That's why I got an 360, so I wouldn't have to worry about getting a whole bunch of extra stuff for games to run and look decent. Meh, it's a lose-lose situation.

Well, my PC monitor is in the other room, is about 8 years old, has a smaller screen than my TV, and is huge (not the screen, but the overall entire thing, the oldschool type of monitor). So that's not feasible. I have my laptop, but the delay with the video to the computer using my tuner is noticeable, so it's not worth trying either.

I think that the text issue ought to be fixed in the sequel. I'd also like to see smarter survivor A.I as the first games survivors are absolutely ridiculous when it comes to getting to the safe house, as they are prone to just standing around and not following the cleared path that you create and often they would get stuck behind an object. The other thing I would like to see is a bit more physics going into how the zombies get thrown about. The canned animations in the first weren't bad, but I would like the prospect of throwing a zombie down the stairs and watching him bounce around, bending into all sorts of weird positions, before colliding into a horde at the bottom, knocking them over like skittles. Might make the zombie genocide achievement more appealing. Quote:

New trailer of Dead Rising 2 is out and judging by the amount of zombies on screen at once, this game is looking better and better than the first. a most brilliant solution if I may add. |
