Gameaccess.ca

I just discovered this site (Okay I'm slow I know). Apparently its the equivalent of the US's Gamefly for Canadians. I'll just post some of the details here.

WiiViewed.com | Reviewed: GameAccess.ca

Quote:
* 10 day free trial. I found this useful when writing this review, though I’ve decided to stay on as a GameAccess.ca member as I have all three of the major systems and love that I can rent games for all three online.

* Express shipping. Four days from Montreal to Calgary.

* No shipping charges. You never have to pay for shipping.

* No late fees. Keep the game as long as you want. Once you send it back they’ll mail you the next game in your que.

* Four different packages to choose from. The most common is their “two game out” package, though there are packages that are as a low as 1 game out and as high as 4 games out.

* Massive selection. I didn’t count them all, but there are literally thousands of games available for rent.
All this for $10 the first month and $18 a month afterwards...sounds like a good way to play the games you don't intend to keep (ie. 1 to 3 monthers...up to 3 months you will still win out over buying PS3/Xbox360 games at $60 a pop plus tax)

I just signed up and will post my impressions on the service here. I live in Toronto, which is close to the warehouse in Montreal, so keep that in mind.

For anyone thinking I'm advertising : I work at IBM and will be getting the games shipped to IBM's Canadian HQ in Markham. I am posting this for Canadian gamers who are looking for a good deal.

Just as an update. Today, one day after initial registration and making my game queue, I got 'verified' and now my first game, COD4 is registered as having shipped to me.

COD4 was not my highest priority game : it was Far Cry 2. But when I put Far Cry 2 into my game queue, it was not yet released and just released today, so I suppose the demand for that game was too high for me to get a copy anyway, so they sent me COD4.

I'll update when the game gets here on the condition of the game and to let you guys know how long they take to ship it here.

Forgot about this thread !

Anyways, COD4 came in 2 days. Condition was perfect (but PS3 games are almost impossible to scratch due to the kyocera layer). I played a bit of it...didn't like the fluidity of it which contrasted sharply with the gritty real nature of it (weird eh? I used to be all about the 60fps).

I put it back in the prepaid envelope that it came in and 2 days later got an email saying that it had gotten back to Gameaccess. The same day they sent me my next game, which was Ninja Gaiden Sigma. That arrived in 2 days as well and in the same prestine condition. Currently I can go home and begin enjoying Ninja Gaiden Sigma on my PS3

All in all, Gameaccess is a great service that Canadian gamers can count on!

The only thing I would improve is their amount of NEW games that they carry, but what rental service has no problems keeping new games in stock.

Sounds very interesting.
Beats dishing out a 50$-60$ everytime to buy a game.

Chrono Archangel, for you I would say its probably 1 day shipping since you're in Montreal.

I'll probably sign up once I get a PS3 and/or a Wii.
No use in signing up for GC games

True enough. I think its an amazing deal for games you only play the single player portion for.

My cousin did it a couple times... until one of the games got "lost" and never made it to them. Overall, I wouldn't be able to trust them considering they'd want you to pay for the game in full if they never get it. And how are we to know if they ever get the game...

Both your and exodus's posts are interesting. I'll take a cautious look at this.

The same thing can happen at a video store. You put it on the counter, the next person swipes it before the employee puts it away / sees it, and you are held responsible. I try to make sure they take the game before I leave, but I've heard that happen to friends...
