PS3 controller to PC

Well couldn't think of a better place to ask it so here it is...

Is it possible to get the PS3 controller working on PC? Just wondering as its connected by USB, when not used in wireless mode... Its just that it would save some money as I wouldn't have to buy a pad as my old pad(which sucks anyeways) isn't compatible with my newer PC, and I recently got ePSXe installed to it... And using keypad just sucks.

I know its possible to connect PS2 controller by using an adaptor but I don't have that...

Thanks.

Now I just feel dumb for not doing that myself...

EDIT: It works! This thread can be closed as far as I'm concerned...

Nah, I'm sure you will start having troubles as soon as you restart your computer. Better keep it open to avoid opening another thread.

And by the way, first problem would be that there is a very confusing plug-in/plug-out/program-execute process every time you want to use the controller for both your PS3 and PC.

Not sure what you mean, its working fine in both...

Well, I did have some problems getting it working at first on PC... But its working fine now, like it did yesterday.
But I'm using it just for ePSXe for now so its not a big problem even if it wouldn't

Do you have a dual shock 3 (rumble compatible) pad? If so, do the drivers support force feedback?

No, I have the PS3 controller with no rumble, not that I ever liked the dumb vibrator anyways...
Six-axis at least isn't working. Like it says on the web page where you get the program, might be in the future.

Sixaxis would work partially if you use GlovePIE.

As for rumble, it doesn't work.

Are all the buttons working, and the analog sticks too?

I'd like to use that controller for nullDC, do you know if it works with nullDC too?

Thanks

Don't know about that nullDC... What it is is mystery to me, but whatever... No need to start explaining

Yes, all the buttons work, including analog sticks and L3 and R3(pushing the analog sticks down). When putting it in for the first time it might take some time to go on, it did with me but no problems after that

To confirm, you did everything in the link that hanibal81 provided - right?

I read elsewhere that if you let Windows fetch the drivers and install them upon plugging the controller in that you need to uninstall those, but I'm not sure how to.

EDIT: NEvermind.

Have another EDIT: I still can't get it to work. I uninstalled the drivers that XP fetches and then went through the installation process in the link that hanibal81 provided but I can't map my buttons to ePSXe. Nothing happens when I try. Oh well.. I have some other gamepads that work fine. I was just hoping to use my PS3 controller since Microsoft's Sidewinder controller doesn't have enough buttons on it.

I might have some information that could help. The step where it asks you to run 'ps3sixaxis_en.exe', and test it... well, I had to do it a few times just to get it responding on the test window box. Plugged in the second controller, and did the same thing with it.

Now, I'm not absolutely sure if that's the appropriate way of doing it(harmful to the PC?), but it worked out fine for me in the end.

It didn't start working at first with me either but I really don't know if it was something I did or just that it started working on its own... You did press the PS3 button to activate the controller right?

Hmm, I didn't get any driver installations either... But yes, everything the guide told me to do I did. Then I went to configure it and after couple times trying it suddenly came alive Then I just mapped it into the ePSXe...

Ah my apologies, forgot to mention about the PS button. After running 'ps3sixaxis_en.exe', the PS button has to be pushed before the test. If it's not responding, then re-do that step. This was all done on Vista.

I did press the PS button, but as far as I could tell it didn't really do anything other than turn my PS3 on >_> I'm gonna go ahead and try again though, with the PS3 unplugged so it'll stop turning it on. I should have done that in the first place, I figure

using the japanese driver fixes all that.

i'll upload it for you.

1) First run libusb.exe and install it.
2) Run SixAxisDriver.exe and install it.
3) check if it worked in the control panel gamepads.

you don't even need to press the PS button.

hope it works for you

edit:
btw, you need to click on sixaxisdriver.exe and "load driver" whenever you disconnect and reconnect your gamepad i think...
