Assassins Creed

I know I don't post much about games in this section usually, but I just got this game.

I'll just start off by saying this game looks stunning, like it could be on par with Crysis, yet it runs superb and much faster than Crysis and even games like Bioshock, Lost Planet, Splinter Cell Double Agent etc.... and the list goes on.

Yet at least on my rig there is some lag, however nowheres near the lag I get with Bioshock, Lost Planet and other games.

The lag is bearable so I don't mind playing. I did however have to turn all my settings down to the lowest I could, even though the settings are the lowest this game still looks visually stunning

Whoever said this was bloatware has never played the game yet, because it runs fairly decent on my PC, and I imagine it runs even better on newer PC's.

My specs are as follows:

AMD64 X 2 3800+ @ 2.0 Ghz, Geforce 6150 LE and 1 gigabyte of DDR2 ram.

I haven't played it long enough yet to give off any more impressions, how the story is and other gameplay.

So far it seems to play strikingly similar to the Prince of Persia games like someone mentioned.

Great so far, I keep ya'll updated as I progress.

It is a great game. If you enjoyed PoP and like the GTA open end environment, then you will absolutely love this game. Many say the gameplay gets repetetive, but IMO that's only if you expect it to constantly change, which it doesn't. Another point worth noting is, much like Crysis, while many missions can be tackled by just 'going in head on, kick ass, complete mission, start next', it really takes out of the fun. Almost every mission can be tackled differently, and that's what keeps the game fun and fresh.

Personally, I found this to be one of the greatest games of this era, IMO in terms of enjoyment and replay value, to be on par with Crysis (which I also loved). A great game, that is really worth investing in.

Yeah it seems good so far, as for repetitive it doesn't bother me since I've played a lot of games even ones with low critiques scores and enjoyed them nonetheless.

What I'm most shocked at is how great it runs for the graphics it displays, much better than I originally thought it would after viewing the requirements.

I'm wondering if Gears of War will run as great as this, because thats my next purchase.

It's fun. The narration is also done very well so the story part of it keeps you interested.

Also, I do get some lag. When you do the whole 360degree view on top of the towers, I get choppy scene.

It is a pretty awesome game! I haven't played the PS3 version yet but have it on PC it's done quite well. I wish the ports of DMC 3 and Onimusha 3 were ported this good. RE 4 was alot better when those texture packs were released.
Anyway I haven't played enough of it to expierenice any sort of lag but what I have played of it it seemed perfectly fine

Its a bad port, seriously, when you quit the game you have to quit 4 times and that is badly done.

I seriously doubt that, I haven't experienced no such thing. I just select quit and it quits without a problem.

It's not really a bad port if it can run nicely on my crappy PC and still look entirely stunning.

It lags for you? Both your GPU and CPU are more powerful then mine, and it never lags for me... What res are you running it at?

Athlon you know, puts me at a slight disadvantage!

Frag, I thought my PC specs were in my siggy.

Athlon 5000+ 2.6ghz dual core, 2Gyg Ram, NVIDIA 8600 GT, Win XP SP2.

The game is unrealistically optimized, I'm not quite sure why the requirements for it are listed as insanely high.

It seems to run much better than the other games I listed above at the same settings.

Is it worth it to play the PC version if you already played one of the console versions?

I wouldn't know as I don't own the console versions. From what I hear playing the game in DX10 mode yields better performance over DX9 with slightly better graphics.

I'm not sure if theres anything else to mention, perhaps someone else will know. I game on my PC because of the convenience and own no consoles at the moment.

Though Ubisoft decided to stop the whole DX10 bit with Assassins Creed?

Yeah I don't own a 360, and although I plan to buy one next year, I may want to play the game this year. I'm running XP, though, so I imagine it won't look much better than the 360? or that my PC will support very high quality graphics?

It does have a DX10 executable so I'm pretty sure it is a DX10 game like the box says. Even the screen shot thread says it has a DX10 mode, thats where the info was posted about the DX10 mode outperforming DX9.

Dx10 has always been in the PC version and still is. It was Dx10.1 that got the shaft from UBI.

I wonder though how the DX9 mode stacks up to the XBOX 360 version?

From what I've seen of Dx9, it looks almost exactly like the console versions. The Dx10 path does render HDR a bit less overexposed compared to the Dx9 path and has slightly better filtered shadows. Those were the only things that stood out enough to me.
