Opinions on these rpgs
I just bought Valkyrie Profile 2 and Rogue Galaxy for the ps2 because they wont be as easily available in the near future,
I was interested in them from reviews and didn't want to miss my chance to get them so.......are these games good rpgs? I know they aren't working great with pcsx2 and my tv and ps2 are all stored away would they be worth the effort of diggin out one of my brickboxes to play? (i can pic for proof of course)

I played a bit of VP2, and it was good enough. It's hell if you're a completionist when it comes to RPGs though.
Rogue Galaxy was mediocre. The plot was thin, the character development non-existent, the battle system was boring. But, it will eat up a lot of your time if you want to do everything - assuming you like that kind of thing

Then it's right up your ally. You'll spend many painful hours hunting monsters.

You're a masochist aren't you... I must be too though, since I went through it all. Except for the stupid pokemon bug thing.

Rogue Galaxy had a good idea, and beautiful artwork....it just kinda lost steam on the execution. It was entertaining to a point....but I never finished it. Some of the dungeons were waaaay too long and boring.

I was going to ask about Valkyrie Profile 2, as I found a copy at K-Mart for ~$10 plus tax, the reviews at gamefaqs.com seemed to indicate it's good, but I just finished my rental of Mario Kart Wii, so I'll try it tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to playing it....

I got each game new for £20 each ($40) which is actually pretty cheap for these titles game shops like to keep the price up on good rpgs as well as popular ones btw, pcsx2 does not like rogue galaxy lol the characters spin super fast and are pretty much un-manouverable

$40 isn't too bad considering they're new. I just bought VP2 used on ebay for $20 or so.

VP2 it's the best of the 2. The combinations of the accesories and the abilities enabled really make a difference in this game. It makes you feel like a playing a real Rpg. In this one a proper setup is the key. I was dying with the final boss time after time. I had to change and combine abilities with each other as some of them complement and voila: I was near invincible: After each attack I was being restored energy in a fixed %. If I was death I had a magical rebirth thing and I just had to be attacked again to have my Hp at it's fullest. Having said that, this combination was hard to get done but very funny. In this game levels don't matter, setup does.
RG has a very dramatic song at the 6th chapter with a good sequence of scenes. What is boring is the amount of time to travel an entire dungeon and it seems the same in any place you are in a given dungeon. It's like they programed 3 or 4 different "rooms" and combined them to make a big dungeon that will take you 3 or 4 hours to complete. The sidequests are time consuming as well but I have to admit the Pokemon game was very entertaining. After watching the ending and the one in FFXII I have to ask this: Why the princess behave like that lately in all the Rpgs? It's a trend or what? ![]() VP2 it's the best of the 2. But hey, with both games, it looks like main characters all want to be sky pirates too.

I like Rogue Galaxy too, haven't finished it yet though... But it does have some flaws, like all RPG's so its not that revolutionary. But I like it a lot, just because it doesn't have much new doesn't make it bad, as what it has it makes good use of
![]() Haven't played Valkyrie Profile... But it doesn't look that bad.

It has nothing to do with not having anything new; it's about not have what should be part of an RPG - like character development.

the gameplay was great but the lack of story or character interaction was crazy to sum up vans entire game dialogue : "hey, lets steal some s*** from the palace" "ooh, my brothers dead, ho hum..." "hey penelo, you're supposed to be like my friend so this is a filler sentance of dialogoue to continue that illusion. I hate you btw" I think I was to generous - vaan doesn't say as much as that in the game

I'm still in the process of playing FFXII. I've gotten so distracted by side quests, that I won't know if it's my fault, or the game's if I find the plot lacking.
But there is an exception to character development, and that's if the main story is really strong - like FFT. Does Rogue Galaxy have a strong plot? Not so much.
