Doom 4

Doom 4 announced, id Software hiring - Joystiq

Quote:
Turns out those blood-thirsty demons just won't stay dead. Id Software has announced that Doom 4 has begun production as of today. According to the press release, the studio is now hiring for the project. Said CEO Todd Hollenshead, "Doom is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth."

No other details were given, but we're guessing it'll run off of id Tech 5 (or perhaps something greater). Given the ending of the Doom 3 expansion Resurrection was pretty conclusive, we don't know where the team will take the Doom story next. Our guess? Probably send a space marine to Hell to fight demons. Perhaps this time he (or she) will pack a better flashlight.

Not such a huge fan of the games, but I love the books. Wish they would base them off it more

And everything else about that game that sucked it hard.

This is awesome news. Let's go back to the quick action-packed dozens-of-demons style of gameplay, just like old times. I hope they make this game the real Doom 3.

...No, wait, Doom64 was the real Doom 3.

doom 64 kicked ass, the fan-made pc port of it to the doomsday engine is even better.

I loved the Doom games, I still need to install Doom 3. I have the space. I just haven't installed it yet.

doom 3 was alright, it didnt really feel like doom though, classic doom at least. the pacing is much slower and it gets really repetitive after awhile, the only intresting section was the hell levels imo.

...and this are both truth.

Though, I'm not sure about Absolution being better than the N64 version jonc. I didn't like how they added new levels within the main ones. Now I can't grab one of the Unmaker artifacts because they placed it in one of the new levels and I don't know how to get it. Other than that, though, it kicks major ass.

you are probably talking about the one where you have to get the red key to open the door that has the conveyor belt in it that brings the artifact to you. read this to see how to get it.
