If we're talking FMVs, Kingdom Hearts was a great one.
Xenogears wasn't bad also...since it's actual anime style animation

I love to watch the demos of Kingdom Hearts I and II but what really got me in those times was the FFVIII intro. The music is awesome.
The ending of Xenosaga Episode III was really epic and I must confess I shed a couple of tears after... well, you have to spend like 120 hours with a character you love just to see it... you have to see it. |

For me the game that had the best intro & ending in one was FFVIII, also Wild Arms 2 has a nice intro i liked the one in Xenogears, Soul Blade, Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere & Toshiden 3

I liked the intro sequence of Snatcher (Sega CD) a lot. Especially the part with the cool 80s style electro beat with lead saxophone. That was the moment I fell in love with it
![]() My favourite ending was the Vagrant Story credits. Again, the music kicked butt hard! I'm a big fan of Sakimoto's compositions, but that time he really blew me away by actually making a full orchestra play a reprise of the most memorable themes in the game. The second best ending was the one in Terranigma, again for its wonderfully sad music and theme. |

Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness
Back in 1996 that was such an awesome videosequence. I loved the british narrators accent.

I have to say FF8 for intro aswell.
As for ending...well I have not really finnished all that many games with propper endings...nothing spectacularily FF yet at least. And yes obviously Square is going to dominate this. Almost no one/ NO ONE does FMV sequences aswell as them. I have to say I love watching the little movies at the start of strategy games and racing games though (Although there has not really been anything good in Racing games recently...and that quality of strategy game's lil intro movies is not as good as it used to be). They are quite entertaining...I have watched the movies at the start of AoE1 and 2 so often. Freelancer was also not too bad...in fact Freelancer overall was awesome...intro, ending, lots of stuff inbetween. Great game. Eventhough Diablo is demonic and I will never play it, I have to admit that when a friend showed me the intro and some other FMVs that from a purely cinematic view it was quite impressive. Well I have to pick FF8 too
But have to say "Burn My Dread" on Persona 3 somehow just hit me too...(haven't seen the ending yet) The intro itself is also pretty nice, a girl seems to try shoot herself in the head and stuff ![]() Stratovarius has a song called Alpha & Omega, its one of my favourite too... I doubt its the same though, haven't heard the xenogears intro.

Best Game intro ever for its time:
Released in 1995: Full Throttle (Lucas Arts) The intro is still better than pretty much everything even nowdays. Video quality on youtube sucks though

When it started it somehow reminded me of Max Payne...
Not a bad intro in there either... That was pretty good too "I Fixed your door" Man, that seemed pretty funny game!

"War. War never changes."
Also, Descent: Freespace - The Great War had an intro that really impressed me back in the day, introducing the Shivan race and preluding the destruction of the Riviera space station. As for endings, I kinda liked F.E.A.R.'s ending a lot, which leaves Alma's wrath up to the imagination, though we might learn what happens through Project Origin. Anachronox comes to mind too. Not the ending itself as there hardly is one, but the major spoiler scene before the boss-fight. Star Control 2 was great too, especially the credits of the PC version. But Snatcher's revealing ending is probably my favorite.

Yeah, I guess I should agree about FF8's intro.

![]() Though I have to accept that the Suikoden 3 intro screams of epic, even though I had never heard of the series before. It even got me interested into playing it
