Oblivion... My nemesis, I've stared this game a dozen times and finished none :/ Everything because several conversations with refraction who always said my character sucked, therefore discouraging me into further playing. Damn you, ref

This looks pretty nice, but I doubt Bethesta will use CryEngine 2 in TESV. But, I may be wrong

The game is so easy you beat it with pretty much anything... Especially if you don't use mods and you have that dumb levelling on. But the game sucks so you haven't lost much. And even if it came to cryengine 2 it would still suck as it looked pretty good but it was bad in just about everything else... Dark Brotherhood was the only, note THE ONLY thing I liked about it... Glad I never bought it.

Yes, if you change the settings to the easiest, beating the game is a breeze, 'cause you can kill pretty much anything with just a single strike. But as a completist with ambitions I always play games on hard and try to finish them in 100%

But soulless responses from NPCs... bland missions, a big world with nothing but trees to explore, dungeons look the same way... etc... I hardly found Oblivion entertaining. I mean... graphics were well-done, game engine was well-done... but the RPG part of the game just sucks beyond imagination.

Actually, as an RPG it wasn't THAT horrid. By no stretch of the imagination was it great, but I didn't mind it. For me the highlight of the whole game was definitely the Dark Brotherhood.

Indeed... if only you could be darker in those missions... I mean... be creative, Bethesda! I get the same **** every time I replay the game... it's as if there's no point in replaying the game!

That's probably why they hired the guy who was behind the Dark Brotherhood for Fallout 3 and now we'll get some reasons to replay the game since they actually give us some choices/different paths.

That is, if the game is worth replaying... But we can hope .

I never could finish Oblivion either... The time where I went the farthest in the game was the first time I tried it...
I heard the expansion (SI) was a lot better, but there's no way I can even reach it, so whatever x_x.

I'm up to Knights of the Nine... beat the game... and then looked back and thought "God! Was... that it?"

If you don't play the side quests, it takes like a few hours to beat the game on Easy... and then the game feels really bland afterwards. Luckily, I beat the game after I've gone through the Dark Brotherhood and some other vampire quests and stuffs.

movie made me want to cry Yeah that does look awesome though, can they make it a mod or something and release it for the users now

Anyway, i beat the game with a few of the sidequests done, did the dark brotherhood and all that, never did much afterwords(game got erased, and cant re-install) i have expansion somewhere but never put on(game wont work now...)I actually liked it, although if it was like the movie was i would have played that for a long time. Pull another 24 hour straight video game playing, make sure i got food and soda and hold everything in til im done

Well, I got both expansions, and TBH I've only really gotten into the original Oblivion. SI and KotN pissed me off.

KotN didn't really bring in that much, and SI didn't have the same classy feel as oblivion. Meh... I dunno, just preferred the first one I guess ^^

How exactly is that Oblivion?

Surely that is just a lot of good looking environments rendered with the Cryengine.

I'll start to be impressed when they show some menus and gameplay.

It's not meant to be a playable game (or it doesn't look that way). They're just rendering the world of Oblivion in the CryEngine. For fun. For the lulz .

Making the whole game in the CryEngine would obviously be waaaayyyyy too much work.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put down their work, creating such good looking environments is one hell of an achievement.

My grumble is with them saying it is Oblivion, when to my eyes, no matter how good looking the environment is, it could be any other similar medieval fantasy setting.

ie; exactly oblivion

No it isn't.

A game is far more than its landscapes and its buildings. It is the playing experience, it is the scripts and the NPC, it's the sense of satisfaction at completing a quest.

Sorry to say but Oblivion wasn't exactly revolutionary it its environments, while playing it I was getting flashbacks to every fantasy film I'd ever seen, but why I enjoyed it was its story.

Show the video to someone who had never played Oblivion and would they say that they didn't recognise the environment, or would they start mentioning the Lord of Rings or other fantasy movies.
