Isn't Tales of the Abyss very good? I have it for the Playstation 2, but I still have to try it.
I was thinking of starting Tales of Symphonia on the Wii first, I have the Gamecube version.

Tales of Destiny II (this one, not this one) is also a very high-quality title. The original Tales of Phantasia (SNES) was also a great title, but the music and art style in the PSX and GBA versions were kinda lacking. Check them out man. Symphonia is the only one in the series with a 3D battle system, but they still work the same in a linear fashion in all other installments in the series. |

Dude... so not true. Run-on gags, cheesy plot, half-present voice acting, sleep inducing second half.

But hey, it has my favorite soundtrack out of the whole series. Maybe that's why I'm so partial to it. |

As far as I know, Tales of the Abyss has a battle system similar to Symphonia, but improved. Don't take my word for it, though.
I've only played the GBA, GBC, SNES and PSX games, so I can't comment on the newer ones, but... I've heard that the PS2 remake of Destiny and the PS2 Destiny 2 have actually the best battle system in the series, it being very fast paced and actually very hard too. Still, from the ones I played(all of the ones available for the consoles listed above, bar Summoner's Lineage for GBA), I must say that Tales of Eternia is by far the best of them, with Narikiri Dungeon 2-3 coming close in battle system and Phantasia having the best story and most likable characters of them all.

I know where Liew is coming from. Symphonia hooked me with the battle system and game's depth alone. Some of the characters are pretty lovable too. However, the voice acting is shoddy, the music can be annoying at times, and the digital animation (on the field, not in battle) is downright laughably horrible. The storyline is a little hard to follow too on one playthrough, but I've beaten the game like 10 times and should probably have a good grasp of it by now.

I only played Tales of Destiny for PS1 (i think it's Tales of Destiny. I always get confused with names for this franchise). Eh, it was alright. Got to second disc and stopped halfway through. Kinda got boring. Atleast it had some decent voice acting.

How are the PSP Tales games anyway?
I've been playing Tales of Eternia for a couple of hours now and I enjoy it, but I doubt the quality of the other games. |

Arche passes out and starts dreaming about getting DRILLED by Cless. She's dreaming out loud and the other three get a running commentary on what she's experiencing in her kinky dreamworld. I'm pretty sure this scene was culled in all versions except the SNES one. As for the number of games, there's a pretty extensive list. Last edited by Mako Eyes; April 16th, 2008 at 16:11. Tales of the Abyss is the best Tales series. (PS2)
Then Tales of Phantasia is pretty good too on PSP
