Xbox didn't fail. It doesn't need to proliferate the Japanese market to be deemed successful, and plenty of people in the states own one. And I would hope size isn't a real concern. Sure, it's fun to mock the size, but it's (or should be) about the games.

It was a big system, DVD players already started to shrink and at least VCRs allowed you to put something on top. With that butt-ugly neon green X on top of it it seemed even larger and demanded even more attention. To non-American people it's a big turn off, and it's found rather typical for the American way of thinking.

Well, part of the big size came come having that HDD included. The console would have been smaller without it, and I kinda preferred the included HDD to a smaller console.

And talking of size, I hear less complaints about the PS3 (13X4X11 inches) being big, bigger than the original Xbox (12.5×4×10.5 inches) even.

People were none too happy to complain about the Xbox being "zomg so big" but now that it's Sony console... The complaints are lessened it seems.
(Not that people don't complain about it... Just a lot less in comparison.)

I did mod my xbox and install linux on it and turn it into a ghetto pc. But i figured whats the point if i got a laptop. so i just turned it off.. and left it sitting on the shelf. And i have no clue where my ps2 is. I think someone stole it. Hell idc. And as for my psp. Its a peice of **** portable. I dont really care about which console is better. I just want it to play the games i wanna play. Other than that i dont really give a damn about "ZOMGZ THEEERS TEH UBER ECHOZ IN TEH HEADZET ZOMGS!" hahahaha. Wow. "Super-Nerds" crack me up.

If you don't like the games offered on the XBOX, that makes sense, but many gamers just want to play games on their consoles. I'm neither happy nor mad I can't play DVDs on the Wii, I have a DVD player and a PS2 if I want to play DVDs, and I tend to just play games and think that's the same with many others...

Again everyone is entitled to an opinion, a system is neither good nor bad, it is good or bad by individual experience. I don't care for the PS3, but it doesn't mean it's a bad system, it just means I don't care for it. My buddy Samor may hate the Dreamcast *not! LOL* and yet that would be his opinion. He's entitled to hate the Dreamcast, and I'm entitled to like it...

I like the XBOX, not as much as the Playstation 2, but it is my second favorite system, yeah better than the Dreamcast. Yeah Samor, that's sad, but I like the Dreamcast better than the Nintendo 64! LOL

i'm no fan of the xbox/360 but to be honest i haven't had many consoles myself psx, ps3 and that's it i don't like the xbox/360's but i dont hate them either. what i do hate about the xbox/360 are their fanboys which only go on about the their best selling exclusive games which i could play myself on my pc. but the worst thing is that they cant find anything about the xbox/360 that's wort bragging about after the exclusives that bill gates pay for. am i the only person that thinks it's unfair that bg bought the rights to gears of war 2 which could've gone multiplatform or even ng2??

Well Bill Gates is no longer leading microsoft, just for you to know... And second, even though I'm against crabox(and its ripoff remake 360) buying rights to a certain game isn't that unfair... If I thought that then I'd have to be pretty angry at sony for buying all the rights for GTA and FF(even though it no longer seems to be a fact...) And Gears of War 2 is certain to come to PC, FPS's and most TPS(third person shooters) suck on consoles anyways... Aiming is just, pure crap!

They have there respective trade offs. Microsoft is mainly about software, Sony is about hardware. This time though, with the 360, and to a lesser extent the original Xbox, MS went for both sides of the fence.
