Devil May Cry 3 PC Version Issues Please Help!

Hello,

I hope that someone can help me with this issue. I just got Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening for PC. I configured my PS2 controller using a converter I have and got the buttons the way I wanted. Afterwards though I play through the first part of the tutorial and the graphics looks great and the game is fast. Once the tutorial is done, I click to go to the next mission and my screen goes black and comes up with the error message saying to send the report or not send it. I tried to paste it in here but it won't allow me.

The specs of my machine are:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon Dual Core 5000+ 2.61ghz AM2
1GB RAM PC4200
80GB IDE Hard Drive
128MB Geforce 6600 graphics card - (The cards heat sink stopped working and the card heats up a lot, yet it still works) (I have integrated graphics as well)

Also, there was a ! mark beside the multimedia video controller so I uninstalled it. I wonder if this is just a driver issue? My bios show up the Geforce 6600 installed with 128mb ram. Also the display adapter shows up as the Geforce 6600 and that it's installed right. Anyone got any ideas?

Product Current
Installed Driver Recommended
Driver
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 169.21 Your PC currently has the latest driver installed for your GPU. No driver update is necessary at this time.

Took that right off the website

got the above item installed turned out it was my tv tuner card and no conflicts now but getting the same error with the game. What should I do next?

look in the event viewer and see if the error message or anything related to the application is listed.

I played the game on a 6600 so that should be fine. Maybe your disk is scratched? Also check whether the ps2 controller or possibly your sound card is messing with the game (its a long shot). Try reinstalling and if that still dosent work you can try taking a screen capture of the error report.

Here's what I get:

dmc3se.exe has encountered an error and has to close. We are sorry for the inconvience.

When I probe further I found this:

Error Signnature:
AppName: dmc3se.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.0 ModName: snd.drv Mod Ver: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00001d3d

This errors includes: info regarding the condition of dmc3sc.exe when the problem occured the OS version and computer hardware in use, your digital product ID which can be used to identify your product and the IP address of your computer.

Also the error report says it saves to
C:\DOCUME~1\Jon\LOCALS~1\Temp\13bb_appcompat.txt but I can never find it there even with my hidden files on any ideas?

Just something that's not directly related to the problem: Why don't you just get a new fan, if it has the right connection chances are it will fit right on the GPU. Unless you have plans of getting a new one of course, it will likely give it a longer lifespan.

Once i encounter a problem too with games (with heavy graphic specs), almost similar to yours. And I already installed newest driver for GeForce. But the problem is still occur.

A guy in some forum says, i must install new driver FROM SCRATCH.
And it works !

Most people did when upgrading their driver is just overwrite driver installation.
Mostly it's ok, but the fact remains the same, sometimes it didn't fit well.
Hell, i never seen in any page in Nvidia sites telling me that i must install new driver from scratch. But it works.

I don't know if this solutions is work for you..but just give it a try..

What i mean FROM SCRACTH is :
1. Uninstall your Driver (via Control Panel / Add remove)
2. RESTART (This is a must !)
3. Install the new driver.
4. RESTART.

Hopefully it's helpful to you

Ah yes i remember what troublesome game back then !

It seems as though my 6600 decided to stop working all together I had been occasionally taking it out due to it getting hot, one of the transformers was half off the card too ick . Anyone know if this game would work on my intergrated graphics that is the Nividia Geforce 6100 NForce 405? or do I need a new card?

Had teh same probnlem as above with my intergrated graphics played perfect through the first mission then went back to the same error message
