No, not really.
Infact all emulation usually does not have that great an effect on consoles/handhelds as it takes quite a while for the emulation to progress to a playable level.
There are still tons of PS2 games with errors or that don't run quite right. There are still quite a few DS games with errors or that don't run quite right.

If you want perfection then the real deal is still the best way to go (and the only legal way anyways as you need the real deal to dump games or bios files from).

thats more of a moral stance than a real impact. some prefer that emus not be programmed/released during the console's lifespan, for obvious reasons (after all, the nostalgia factor plays a significant role in that as well, though the now-generalized backward compatibility in many/most new consoles is eroding the logic of it slightly, as older games now tend to age better than before the 'nextgen' era began)

btw, how ridiculous would it not look to have gba emulators on the DS, just for fun's sake ? ;P

When it's possible to run homebrew code, such as emulators, on a handheld, this in most cases also means you are able to boot downloaded images. That's the main selling point really.

I bougth my Dreamcast and PSP for homebrew though, I made sure that I got myself one of the old fat PSPs so that I could downgrade it to run emulators. Same for Dreamcast, I knew it would run all my old NES game, so I bought it. Best purchase ever.

As for the emulation of handheld consoles on your PSP: That's only for those who really have no money, or loser kids who are just too desperate to invest something in their own hobby. I don't think it affects sales too much, emulation, especially of handhelds, is just too underground for that.

I don't find portable games as fun on PCs as on portable gaming systems.
I had a Game Boy Player before I purchased a game Boy Advance, though, and I rarely used it.

I play games on my Game Boy Advance SP quite a bit though, and I like to backup all my Game Boy Advance games to my PC.

I may eventually buy the memory unit that lets you play dumped Game Boy Advance games in case my cartridges break.

I agree, I think the sole reason of handhelds being portable is enough to keep their sales up regardless of emulators' existence.

Still. Emulation sure has affected sales in my opinion. Iirc, GBA was emulated after 6 monthes from the handheld release. If you were a father, would you get your son even if you know it can be emulated perfectly on a 500 MHZ PC? Maybe you would but not everyone would

At the time, 500mhz portable computers were expensive. Portable computers are still expensive, and not everyone has the tech knowledge to install an emulator, download the ROMs, and setup the emulator, plus to upgrade the emulator and to deal with the fact not all games will work.

I think spending $99 is a better idea!
