NGemu Awards 2005 results!

Well, after some technical difficulties the forum had, the time everyone was waiting for has finally come. So, let's skip the lenghty introductions I usually make and let's go directly with the results (expect a lenghty conclusion though )

Member of the year:

1. Cloudvii (8)
2. Refraction/Cid Highwind (7) votes
3. Samor (5)

Showing that previous year's third place was not enough for cloudvii, his efforts for bringing some fun to this place have been recognized. Congratulations pal.

Refraction's and Cid Highwind's efforts to fight the hordes of n00bs that often attack pcsx2 and the open discussion sections are also worth of mention, and as such they are awarded this year's second place.

Samor, after 4 years of being (unfairly) forgotten, has finally been given the recognition he deserves. Congrats on your third place.

Staff member of the year:

1. Bobbi (11)
2. hushypushy (6)
3. Dark Watcher (5)

This one was a no brainer. The person who has made it possible for us to form a community for all these years is the person that deserves the most recognition from us. Everyone hail Bobbi

Even though a lot of people on the PSX section are terrified by his mere presence, we know that hushypushy is a sweetie at hearth. Congrats on your second place.

Good ol' Dark Watcher who has shared his wisdom with us throughtout the year gets the third place.

Avatar of the year

1. Kirby (24)
2. Player-X/Syed Fawad (6)
3. ChankastRules (2)

Showing that we are romance suckers, not mattering if it's just two slimies doing...whatever slimies do, Kirby gets an overwhelming victory this year.
Coffee lovers found in Player-X an avatar that was worth mentioning, along with Syed Fawad gloomy avatar. Kudos to ChankastRules for his third place.

Signature of the Year.

1. Razor Blade (15)
2. Guyver2K5 (11)
3. hushypushy (8)

Showing that his skills haven't rusted at all, Razor Blade gets first place this year. Guyver2K5 have been accepted into the conclave of the signature makers, coming in a close second place. hushypushy ever insane sigs keep their strength and this year they gave their creator a third place.

Nutter of the Year

1. Eface (10)
2. Nevermore (9)
3. Kirby (8)

First of all I would like to thank everyone for not nominating me for this cathegory this year ... *ahem* now then , on a very close competition, Eface ever scary pics have traumatized enough people for guaranteering this year first place. Nevermore isn't too shabby either, and his all round craziness awarded him second place. Lastly, our favorite pink balloon got a nice third place. Kudos to all the nutters.

IRC'er of the year

1. Generalplot/FLaRe85 (16)
2. moomoomoo (5)

Although there was quite a lack of nominees in this cathegory, honor must be given to those who honor deserve. Congrats to Generalplot and FLaRe85 on their first place, and moomoomoo for his second place.

Gentleman of the year

1. Cid Highwind/cloudvii /Prafull (9)
2. Katsuya (5)
3. Kazuya Mishima (3)

This novel category proved to be one of my favourites this year. On a very gentlemanish tie, all Cid Highwind, cloudvii and Prafull share this year's first place, showing us that there is always a way of expressing what we think without having to demean our counterside (how boring ). Katsuya ever polite posts granted him a second place, while our local karate man showed us the results of his mental discipline with a third place.

Emu Innovation of the year.

1. PCSX2 (25)
2. Dolphin (11)
3. iDeas (5)

While words may fall short to express what we think of each of our favourite emulators, every single emulator out there deserves our sincere appreciation for all the effort their makers put into it. This year, PCSX2 got first place, Gamecube's Dolphin second, and the DS emulator, iDeas, got third.

Forum of the year

1. Open Discussion (17)
2. Game Discussion (10)
3. PCSX2 official forums (8)

Challenging the fact that we should be an emulation board, open discussion got this year's first place. Saving some face, on a fierce competition Game Discussion and the PCSX2 forums got second and third place respectively.

Fanboy of the year

1. CKemu (11)
2. Miretank (7)
3. Cid Highwind (6)

Our ever present betatester CKemu got some recognition for the endless hours he has spent playing his favourite games like Naruto the fighting game and Pokemon the return at 4fps, and will henceforth be called CKemu the fanboy. For those who have visited the Desktop pics thread know how extreme Miretank's moddings can be, and that gave him a nice second place. Cid Highwind's eternal attachment to dead systems awarded him a third place.

Post of the Year

1. registration == cash! (13)
2. DarkWatcher's wisdom (10)
3. Elly and science (5)

Another novel category that many people liked. Showing that not only veterans can make quality posts, our friend PayMe2Register dominated this award with 13 posts. On another hand, seriousness and a helping hand is always recognized, and as such Darkwatcher's wisdom will pass to history with 10 votes. Elly's view of science laymans will also be immortalized with a third place.

Thread of the year

1. Payment Of Registering?! (15)
2. Why do you visit NGEmu forums? (8)
3. The Perpetual Asian Girl Pic Thread! (6)

It seems registering was quite an event this year, since this year award goes to clouds bro's thread and his monetary issues. Congrats pal
Veteran members didn't want to lose to the new ones though, and in a supreme effort Prafull reminded us our memories here... it later degraded to some neo spam thread, but that's another story.
And even though his strong card was closed early on this year, Yelo took advantage of our animal instincts to get a third place. Kudos to all the winners

Reporter of the year

1. Bobbi/Katsuya (12)
2. Player-X (7)

Even though some great people were omitted in this award, it doesn't rest importance to the work Bobbi and Katsuya have made through this year. Their willingness to bring us emu and gaming news can only be rewarded with a first place. Congrats.
Player-X news ensued some good discussions this year over the Open Discussion area, so the members have deemed you worthy of the second place

By now I'm quite tired of typing this all so I'll save you from the lenghty conclusion. I would like to thank all the people who voted this year, and, in the name of the committe team, I would like to thank again the staff people for giving us the oportunity to organize this year's award. I hope all of you enjoyed yourselves during this event

Sincerely yours,

The NGEmu Awards 2005 committe

congrats to the winners

I have to thank refraction and cid for both having equal votes for member of the year (2nd place), because otherwise I'd have ended up 4th
Tbh. I was surprised I was nominated for anything at all in 2005, let alone end up with some winning position

Let's hold back on Bobbi's award till he has an explanation about why the forums have been down for a couple of days.

We won? Where is the coffee prize! Thank you to the members who have always respected us regardless of our weird schitzophrenic lurker tendencies. We hope our old fart wisdom continues to be of use in he future...

Special thanks to the awards committee as well. The polls, categories, and nominations were handled very well. Their commitment shows....
