PCSX2 forums reopened.

Here's what has changed in the past week or so:

1. Cleaned up most of the locked threads.
2. Rewrote the FAQ a bit, More question orientated, should be less confusing (hopefully )
3. Added a license agreement which must be clicked on to enter that forum.

The rules are now always displayed when you access the forum, and you must agree to continue. As such we are now enforcing a zero tolerance policy on this part of the board.

Further changes may happen later this week. Watch this space .

Glad to see the forums back up. It's too bad that n00bs and lam0rs had to ruin it for the other people who were honest and actually read the stickies. Anyways I am kind of glad this happened because now it will be a better environment for everyone to enjoy

Hmm... i dont know.... its not pros but n00bs are the ideal type of people to tear down any kind of program, security or whatsoever. They are damn smart

Anyway I think that along the many options avaible the policy is one of the best....

I still think most people aren't going to actually read the thing and just agree anyways. A good way to counter this would be to have a little trick in it. For example we could have a message half way through the disclaimer telling the reader to click disagree instead of agree. This would keep a lot of newbs out.

Yes, well whether or not they read it is irrevant. They agree to it in order to access the forum. Hence there is no longer any excuses.

Well, to be honest, I don't really think that a warning message will stop all of the lame requests. Perhaps the best way would be to make the forum moderated.

So now you can ban their asses faster than ever. Maybe sometime implement a feature that if in the threads if they are replying and it says Rom or something like that ban em right away.

Hmmm... well the problem with that is that words like DVD-Rom CD-Rom and such would have some problems.... and Regulus would also do if he still had his previous nick

Well I never said it would. What I said was now there is zero excuse for not reading it .

As in regards setting it up as a moderated forum (ie a forum which posts have to to read by mods/ admins before they become visable): that was tried about 2 years ago on the epsxe forum.

Basically all that happened back then was that when folks posted a new thread, and didn't see it appear on the list, they immediately thought the board was playing up and created another thread. And Another. Then created yet another in a different forum. So it means we have about 3 times the amount of rubbish to deal with than if we just leave it be.

Really, the only 100% sucessful method of stopping dumb posts is to shut it down permentely... however that is not an option.

No it isn't. But it's a real shame that people can spoil it for everyone.

Look, as long as this new system is implemented, if there are poeple stupid enough to try be assess (i.e n00bs and Lamers), then they get their arses banned...period. Like Betamax said, there is no longer any excuse to post moronic questions.

Something that could be tried would be to have someone(s) as a moderator(s) for just the PCSX2 forum. This would leave the admins mostly free to worry about some of the other forums , and would also be much better than having a "moderated forum" (I.E. making sure that new threads are read by mods.....). Let the threads be posted, but if some unacceptable material pops up, the mod(s) can expeditiously take care of it.....And I say mod(s) because some of us actually remember to sleep.....*goes back to hide*

Uh,..there are other mods besides us on the PCSX2 forums,..such as bositman,..and I certainly couldnt ignore those specific forums since this is where 80% of emuforum's lame threads reside

Yours,
-Elly

Really?!.....I didn't know there were very many mods, if at all.....I thought there were basically just admins here on NGEmu, as I can't even recall seeing a "moderator". Anyway, I thought of that idea mostly because I remembered how GameFAQs was and is *shudders*. They basically had 2-3 mods for each regular forum and about 5 for some of the really bad ones.....Oh well, so much for ideas. *Puts gun barrel back to temple*
