Re: Emuforums.com working again

I don't remeber when was the last time I typed an NGemu URL

I have three ways of accessing NGemu and Emuforums without typing URLs

Anyway, nice to know they're working.

...and now it's down again. Neither ngemu.com/forums nor emuforums.com works. Both get a page saying "ngemu is down for ever, click here for details". The numeric URL works to read the board, but not to login or post, it just keeps saying I'm not logged in, even when I just got done logging in. My guess is it's setting a cookie for the numeric address, but trying to read one for the ngemu address.
I was finally able to get in here and post by using my HOSTS file to get around the domain issue.

Hmm that screen was put up a while back due to an upgrade and cash flow problem... If your still getting that it sounds like either you dns has not been updated since (unlikely)... or you are using an "internet accelerator" program. If so switch it off.

No to both.
I got that screen once many months ago, then the site came back and everything was fine until yesterday. Yesterday that page suddenly appeared again. If I followed the link on that page, or went to ngemu.com, it forwarded me to the numeric address. If I went to emuforums.com or ngemu.com/forums, it took me to that page about ngemu shutting down.
I added an entry in my HOSTS file to permanently associate ngemu.com with 207.44.203.86 and now it works like it's supposed to.

I do not use any accelerator programs, nor do I use any proxy servers.

you could say so; its showing an ngemu v1 screen.

I wonder how many ppl are having this problem.
anyway, Cypherswipe's solution (editing the hosts file) works great.

I just experienced the same problem, edited the hosts file and that worked but if i try to sign-in on ngemu.com, it gives me the standard error page "page cannot be displaed" and dumps me back to ngemu.com not logged in. If i then goto emuforums though, i am logged in...

You might need to add both www.ngemu.com and ngemu.com to your hosts file, I'm not sure just how littleral the hosts file is. I know you can't use wildcards, and that it only works with domains and subdomains (but not directories or files), but I don't know if ngemu.com covers [anything].ngemu.com or if it only covers ngemu.com. (I had added both to my file, just to be sure.)

I primarily use my hosts file for adblocking, but I had a similar problem with another site once. The domain name wasn't working (it had recently been transferred to a new server) and the site didn't allow surfing through the IP address, so I tried setting it up in my hosts files and it worked like a charm.
