Perhaps post count could be eliminated completely? We can't see how many we have anyways. Bad idea?

Hehe.. Well, I am not all that serious.. But I have been here for quite a while and barely spend my time in the off topic or spam forums.. I think I've posted in the off topic forum about 5 or 10 times.. None in the spam forum.. Heck, 3000 is about what I had before this announcement.. I guess I didn't lose much post counts..

I like helping people and posting some sweet screenshots.. If there is nothing here for me to respond to then I am off to my other emu sites and playing games..

Recently though, I have been playing MvC quite a bit online against people.. Kicking ass and loving it..

> How am I suppose to know if my post counts are high enough to get the extra options with the forums? (Avatars, Title Change)

If Bobbi sets up the new percentage system, it will be easy to tell. For now, just look at how many stars you have. If you have one star, you can obviously put up a custom avatar. If you have six stars, you can put up a custom status. It's not all that tough (although not as easy to figure out now).

> Perhaps post count could be eliminated completely? We can't see how many we have anyways. Bad idea?

While we're at it, why not just get rid of the forums completely? Since no one knows what your post count is, why would it matter whether the post count is incrementing or not? There is no need to use an even more extreme measure when the current one more than takes care of the situation.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will get there on my own. I'm sure that I will change my mind frequently. Besides, I still have no idea what I want.

I think screenshots help people a lot.. It gives people something to look forward to when playing a game.. Lets people see what the right configurations and spec comp can do.. Plus it's also nice to see good screenshots.. I personnally like looking at good screenshots.. Even when they aren't mine..

Someone also used my own screenshots in their website.. And anyone else who may be looking for some good screenshots for whatever reason.. I have also had a few screenshot requests so I "Helped" them out..

I personally have no qualms(I think they are both good) about the old way of the forums or the new.. I just like coming here to do stuff.. Not try and make my postcounts go higher..

I agree with fivefeet8.Infact I have always been a great admirer of his screenshots. At times his screenshots have helped me with right configurations and also in purchasing some games as well.
As far as other use for screenshots its really good for testing purposes.I have posted screenshots for Nickk and I hope it helped in improving his plugins.

I guess I'll third that motion. Screenshots are good. Without viewing screenshots of Grandia II, I probably never would have come to the decision to purchase it.

I dissagree, I think screenshots should not be counted. I've seen several times people abusing this section just to boost their post counts and/or people going overboard and posting several pages of redundant pictures.

why not just get rid of the 700 post requirement for custom titles? I mean nobody can see how close they are too it, and still is one of the reasons people spam, so they can reach that point. To me it just gives the users one more reason to spam, and then eventually get themselves temp banned in the proccess. I think since one thing was takem from the users there should be something given back to the users. Just get rid of the required post count for custom titles.

I mean custom titles at 700 post is an incentive to post more, which users will do, and some people's post will be found to be spam. I suggested it a long time ago, but it was just overlooked. It should have been one of the first things to go, since it was a cause of useless spam at times.

As for the temp ban, i think it should just be a temp ban on posting, but should still have view access. The point oif the forums is to give support, and depending on how the bans are implemented could effect other potential users of the board. That is if the bans were set by ip or hostmask. If the point was to drive away users then this is a step in the right direction.

I just hope people don't judge people's experience or usefullness by some stupid star count. I know many users who don't post much, but when they do they are more helpfull and experienced then a majority of the board users.

TM was very interesting because it's not your common game, and you did an excellent explanation of story so it doesn't qualify spam...it's more like 200+ redundant pictures of tekken3 in one post, or sometimes just as bad "let me post all the random screenshots on my hd" type posts which qualifies as spam.

...sorry I guess I'm just tired of seeing dozens of screen shots from the 3-4 most popular games. but I guess it can't be helped...

I don't say all of my posts were useful but I think I posted quite something in the 'useful' forums.
This thing about setting the custom title postcount to a lower value is a good, as he said that's why most of the people spammed.

Well, I don't like the idea of custom titles from the beginning ...
what else is there ...

Well so much for that idea .. well I wish everyone luck, this board just gets worse by the day.

I thought it was a good idea at first, but why hide the post count if it is still there? Either get rid of it or get rid of the custom title too.

nah, then we'd just be assimilated into nothingness, avatars and titles give individuality, and they let us express ourselves, (sigs also help but sigs dont allow pics) however i do agree that there shouldnt be a post requirement for user title... and as for ranks, why not make it based on the amount of time youve been here at ngemu (eg first month junior member and member second month whatever...)
