Cxbx log thread

Rather than have the compatibility list thread full of these, let's have a new thread dedicated to it! So, here are the rules:

1. There are two types of logs that Cxbx outputs: Xbe and kernel logs (Xbe.txt and KrnlDbg.txt, respectively). Please specify what log(s) you are posting.

2. DO NOT post a kernel log from a release build! Only post kernel logs you are using a debug build (it will have the word "Trace" in the title). Release builds do not output any information in the kernel log so posting it makes it useless.

3. Tell us what version of Cxbx you are using to generate these logs (if you are using a sourceforge beta build, tell us what revision too).

4. Check to see if a log of your game using the same Cxbx version has not been posted before doing so. For instance, we get tons of Midtown Madness 3 logs posted over and over again!

If any particular log catches my interest, I'll see if I can get that game and work on it to see what happens.

I am not a programmer (hence I am amazed what you guys accomplished up until now...), but I do have some questions.

Is it possible to modify the XBox-OS, so that it can be installed as autonomous operating system (side by side with windows, Linux, etc.)?
I thought that having direct access to the PC-Hardware could boost performance.
Games could be read directly via flashed drives, or from ISOs appearing as drives, internally using the XBox filesystem (similar to Valve's .gcf files)
But I heard that especially graphics card drivers are one pain in the ... to modify...

I was wondering whether your approach on emulation was based on XBE to EXE conversation or emulating the xbox hardware in order to run the original xbox OS and games through this.

First of all it's great to see the project evolve, now if I may ask, why is it that xbox seems like the blacksheep of the emulator community? Is gc just that much easier to write for? Do developers just love super mario sunshine that much? Well just curious I suppose, I really appreciate everyone who is developing these emulators so I can play my games again (shoddy xb dvd-drive). Just remember the community is behind you.

Gamepad support instead of keyboard controls

How hard is it to create gamepad support instead of keyboard support into cxbx ?

This way you can use the 360 gamepad controller for cxbx.
The 360 gamepad controller is supported as a normal gamepad. so it would be great to run cxbx with the 360 gamepad controller.

greetings,

Would it be theoretically possible to run games directly from the DVD like ePSXe?

I was just thinking about how handy it is to be able to run PS1 games directly from their disc while you have to rip GCN/Wii games. So in theoretical terms, would it be possible at all for Cxbx to play directly from the Xbox game DVD?
