THE CONFIGURATION:
Using ePSXe 1.60. Used ShendoXT's Linux Configuration Guide
ePSXe confirmed working.
Attempting to open *.bin image "FFVIII"

Alright, here goes. I have just got ePSXe up for one reason and one reason only: Another playthough of FFVIII. It has been a long time sense I last played it (back when I still had the disks) and I am really itching to get into it.

The problem, my image doesn't seem to be loading. I know my config works cause I used one of my girlfriends (original/unburned)PSX disks and it started up just fine. I am thinking the image is in the wrong format.

I looked around the forum and found a program for checking images, but I am using linux and the program seems to be for windows. I am looking for a way to 1. see if the image is valid and 2. get espxe to open the image. Anyone got any ideas? Thank you in advance

Oh, almost forgot. I am all out of CD-R's right now so burning isnt a option.

full analogue control

i cant seem to get analog to work properly. it is not sensitive at all. on gran turismo you either turn to the maximum, or not at all. i believe when i first started using the adapter for my ps2 controller it was sensitive and i could use the d pad or analog stick without having to press the analog button. is there a solution for this? also, in gran turismo, i go to the analog controller settings and it doesnt detect that my controller is analog.

made some progress. by having the analog button pressed while configuring the pads controls, it treats the analog stick like a dpad, so the analog stick does have some sensitivity. though there is a very small threshhold between maximum and minimum

so, um the problem is not really solved because the right analog stick doesnt work. maybe its to do with the adapter or the drivers for it, so my problem cant be solved.

PAL to NTSC Image SPEC OPCODE Error

I own a legitimate copy of Final Fantasy VII PAL that I wish to convert to NTSC for an improved playing experience.

I'd like to use ePSXe to test the conversion process.
I've made an image of the file using Alcohol 120% in CCD format and I'd patch the .IMG using Zapper2K.

However, whenever I try mounting the image and running it in ePSXe after it is converted, I always get a SPEC OPCODE error. (Not only that but if I try running it in a PS1 it runs but it's still in PAL, so it's probably not the fault of ePSXe). It works perfectly BEFORE I patch it. I've used other patching programs too other than Zapper2k.

How do I fix this problem? I've also tried creating BIN/CUE using ImgBrn but nothing else changes.

I remember I once got this working a long time ago, but I can't remember for the life of me how to do it now.

(I'm running Windows 7 x64)

Thank you.

Questions about Disc Images (SubChannel included)

Always wondered about this. It's known that there's the function of "reading sub-channels of CDs"

Normally I'd use the original CD for this in case of problems. But according to the "perfect backup of PSX discs" guide, you get the .sub file as well when doing it right. (You actually get 3 or 4; .ccd/.sub/.img).

Normally you can just run the .IMG file, using the Run ISO function in ePSXe.

But what will happen with the other 2 files then? Even if you want to use the subchannels of the CD, doesn't it have to be ONE file? (And then of course MOUNTING that one file to run it as CD to use that subchannel option). Or could it be that the .CCD file takes care of that when you run THAT as an ISO in ePSXe?

So yeah, in short:
* How does the whole .sub system work?
* How does one use the "Enable SubChannel Read from" option when using Images instead of the actual CDs.

Memory Card Size?

Well, on the real PSX I have this memory card that can go through "pages" of 15 blocks when holding Select + L1/R1. It's a 240 blocks memory card.

So this makes me wonder if it's possible on a computer with ePSXe to somehow increase the Memory Card size as well?

Right now the cap is 15 blocks, but I wonder if there's a way to increase this, or maybe the ability to swap through pages as well, to get a new set of 15 blocks. It would help a lot with managing Save Games. I'm pretty sure PCSX2 has this feature for the memory card. But I guess it's because the restriction was never "blocks" but rather the amount of memory still available on the card, meaning you could have a 200 MB Memory card on a computer basically.

Has anyone come across an ideal set of plug-ins for someone running a 64bit OS, specifically Vista Premium Home SP2?

I'm running a 2ghz Duo Core

It'd be awesome if someone could kindly direct me to a page where I could sift through plugins of some sort, with a wizened recommendation or two.

Hi, could anybody help me?

I tried to run the pec emu cheater on ePSXe and I got everything 'till the part about setting the pec plugin as the video plugin for ePSXe, Does anyone know why it's not working?

It only shows the other video plugin I put in it, and I tried putting the plugin for PEC in the plugins folder for ePSXe and it still didn't work!

(I have version 1.5.2 of ePSXe and I really don't want to update to a newer version for technical reasons.)

EDIT: Oh, also, the window that says; "waiting for plugin" won't go away, is that some kind of mega-lag? or is there something wrong with pec?

Thanks,

- Mari
