How accurate could a screen capture code ever be?

*How accurate could a screen capture code ever be?*
Interesting question isnīt???? a question that probably coders and non-coders are looking for an answer, just like any other Person/user/coder in this freaky world iīve asked myself that question in the last time and therefore i was looking for answers... the results??? well all i can tell is that is just a dissaster!

after doing some research and downloading a couple of crappy apps i came to the conclution that only two software available out there are usable when it comes to screen capture in Windows and thatīs no other than Camtasia and hypercam... sadly both apps dissapointed me as they do not recorded the screen as i spected or at all and not to mention that recording from the speakers didnīt work either in both apps but only mic which is annoying. another option is Fraps but it just records fullscreen windows while they are running not to mention the insane amount of space a single raw record requires on your poor HDD... so after such a dissapointment i ask myself again* "Could a screen capture code be ever accurate enough to be usable???" * taking in mind that the mentioned apps are created by big teams and awesome tools the answer could be* "No, its not possible"* which was the first logical answer that came to my mind..

as many of you probably know am the kind of coder that doesnīt accept by any means the sentence *"No, its not possible"* as it pretty gets on my nerves... so after i came to the conclution that it *"May not be possible"* i started to think how could i change that... the other day while i was watching my daugther play besides our TV i think i understood how our eyes capture images and send them to our brain so we can see something move or different colors etc. our eyes concentrate in the object moving while it ignores the rest somehow so it focus the main work into the area that we are looking at. i noticed that because my daugther was playing around and on our TV a small fly was flying around and i couldnīt get both my daugther and the fly at the sametime in the same focus...even knowing that isnīt gonna be a easy task i took all that info and started the work and opened my freaky Visual Studio. at the beginning i thought i will never get it but after thinking on my now already old file loading algorithm results which was able to load 258GB of audio information and scan 54000 files in less than 20 seconds i thought i should at least try :D

the results????? well is not optimized as it should but iīve created probably the most accurate screen capture to my knowledge and without big performance penalties

if you know any other screen capture app that you consider accurate please share it with me as its going to help me with the development of my classes and tests.

I've been contemplating for the past month or so about brushing off my college Java textbooks and maybe make another attempt before my 2+ year old knowledge of Java completely turns into mush (since I have no intent of going back to school anytime soon).

I made an attempt during my college years of creating a program out of hobby. It was called XL-Updater. All it was was a simple update checker for one of my favorite engine mod out there....D2X-XL. Basically, all it did was run the game with a command-line argument, terminate the game, read the version number out of the text file it would create, and check that version number with the latest version on the website. I posted a early release on the D2X-XL forums, and I never updated it since.

I made silly mistakes such as never commenting my code. When it came to working with some "bug reports," I was completely dumbfounded on where to look because the only code comments I had were in my head :p

Dumb decisions aside, I was planning my latest attempt to create a program that will backup PC game saves/profiles (I just lost my CoD4 profile because I forgot to copy it before I formatted :p )

I'm just curious on what tools are out there now that would help me with managing source code. And I guess a few organizing tips won't hurt, either

during the development of @ES iīve been trying to optimize stuff as much as i can.. sadly its not always easy to do that as coding isnīt as easy as many people probably think.

today i did some changes to the code and see how far i could get...sadly i lost Round 1 against the notepad by 820kb :(

here the cruel proof:

Notepad memory usage:
Image: http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/9476/notepad.jpg

@ES - MorphX memory usage:
Image: http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/7505/morphx.jpg

Round 2 is about to start... any ideas????

Quick question...

i have a quick question for you guys... as you may know iīve been working in the @ES Project for quite long time now... sadly i didnīt had enough time to code as i wanted but at least is progressing slowly.

so here my question... do you guys have an idea how to display data/information in a nice/better way???? i donīt know how many of you do that but in my case i love to code my own controls and so i donīt have to touch the horrible windows/coding tools controls. as for now iīve created 2 custom controls and they are:

Cover-ListView:
zGLdxG1QdkY

the listview works quite fine and iīve done all i can to reduce memory usage as much as i can.. atm i can display over 500 items and the memory usage of the whole app is still under the 60mb mark.. eventhough loading more items could increase the memory usage and thereīs no much i can do... maybe someone has an idea about that.

Coverflow:
pSv88CteHbs

The Coverflow is the concept i get the best results for data displaying.. atm iīve added Virtualization and also i use some tricks of the old @ES to reduce memory usage and the results i get are just awesome. eventhough it seems like many people still like the listview mode.

Please tell me your opinion/ideas about it as its going to help me with the development of my app. also if you know any tricks or have any awesome concept please post it here and try to explain it to me so that i can imagine the whole workflow and so create the control at a later time.

Regards
