I just bought a laptop, it came with the Win7 (yay!) Home Edition (yuck, and it's in french too xP). Problem is, I want to install XP on another partition because sadly, the software the company uses works only on this OS. It totally hates Vista and Seven and it won't be updated before months -_-

Is there any way to install it? It's a Toshiba X500-10Q laptop if that matters

i get my friends Adobe Premiere CS3 (okay i know it's not mine...) and installed it on my computer, and after succesfully (and a bit tweaking in registry) installed it, i manage to use it, but when i use it, it shows

'the beta version for this application has expired'

lol wtf, i got confused...


and then i turn my date to 2007

and lol wtf it works, i ROFL when found this out


seriuosly, does it happen because i bypass the time check? and what other apps are working this way?

On my secondary XP install (which I use primarily for gaming), whenever I reboot the OS and/or reset my modem, the internet works, but after 2-3 minutes, connectivity is lost again. The same problem occurs with the XP install on my legacy PC.

However, my primary Windows 7 install shows no problems at all, and I'm getting very good connectivity and speed from it. So what's wrong here? My legacy PC is infected with the Confiker Worm and I often have that PC running alongside my main PC for downloading when I'm gaming, so I'm thinking the worm transferred itself over the network and infected the other XP install too.

Edit: Okay, these are some other problems I'm facing with that OS too:

- Can't access Microsoft's or many security websites.
- Can't turn Windows Firewall on or off (error saying ICS Security Service failed to initialize).
- Google search often fails to load since it says it's receiving automated requests from my PC.

Coincidentally (or not...) these are prime symptoms of a Conficker Worm infection. I scanned the XP drive with Nod32, but it didn't return any infections. Gonna try the Conficker Removal Tool now. While internet connection dropping out isn't listed anywhere as a symptom, I'm guessing my ISP automatically bans me or something cuz its receiving so many requests (that would also explain why resetting the modem temporarily fixes the issue).

hello i need need info, see I got Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the year edition for the Xbox 360 about a year ago and I was like "wow this game is awesome" but recently i realized i've completed every quest in the game on every character class so i went on Xbox live and got all the add ons deepsorn,frostcraig,etc. but i did all those too. I heard from a friend that the computer version had more add on quests, so I went out and found that but i finished installing it and it says:failed to initialize renderer get adapter desc()failed. Now i'm great with hardware (if it's a hardware problem i can fix almost anything) but terrible with software so what i need to know is: do i need to take my laptop apart and put in a better graphics card or is there some kind of program i can get?

So I installed windows 7 and i have problems with my nvidia 9600gt drivers..can any1 tell me where to download expertvision for Win7 and when i check my directx it says that directx11 is installed, will that cause some problems?

I've installed ubuntu in VirtualBox, but I want to how do I change the screen resolution of ubuntu to something higger. And is they any good OS for running in a VM, im planning to use VirtualBox for going to the edges of the web.

firefox constantly uses upwards of 300,000K on my memory usage in windows xp even when all im doing is post this here thread. ill post what extension and plugins ive got if needed. and my flash videos all lag a bit as well. ive got the latest version of flash version 10 not 10.1 becuase my gpu cant handle the loadoff becuase its only a 7600 and it looks like they use cuda for the load off.

Hi, I am a happy win7 x64 user but I was dissapointed to learn that one of my favourite games of all time, Beyond Good and Evil, won't install properly.

I did a search on google about the issue and it seems to be the fact is that the installer doesn't work properly on a x64 operating system.

I thought i post here and see if anyone can find a solution as I have tried everything except installing virtual box and run a virtual win xp to run the game or just installing it to a system running win xp and copy the installed files and the registry regarding the game.

I noticed my mouse pointer or my system was lagging, so I decided to open task manager to check what was consuming resources. Upon opening the task manager I noticed something strange, the cpu load information for tasks was messed up.

Here is a screenshot outlining the problem, would anyone know what it's caused by or how to fix it?

ok i figured out why my windows xp was so slow it was comodo security suite with just anti-virus and firewall that was slowing it way down. go figure i had no problems up until late September go figure. anyone recommend any thing to replace it with cause right now all ive got is windows firewall on and no anti-virus.

Which is better Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 x64? Because I have a copy of the server 08 thanks to the Microsoft DreamSpark program. And was wondering if I should use that instead of my current windows 7 x64.
