My DVD-Drive that came with Dell Dimension 4600 works wonders with subchannels.

The information about your Dell Dimension 4600's DVD drive would be far more useful if you:

Open Windows Explorer.
Right-click your CD-ROM drive.
Click Properties.
Click the Hardware tab.
Find your CD-ROM drive in the list.
Post the name of it here (editing your previous post will do fine).

What you did post is nearly useless as the same model computer can ship with different model drives - even drives from different manufacturers.

My TDK DVD RW 0404N (so says the model in the device man...I've had it for a couple years - I forget what hte box said) plays FFIX just fine.

Is there some other way to test it?

you can use alcohol 120%, cloneCD, or a similar program to make an ISO with subchannel data. i thought that nero's infotool had it too but i cant find the option right now, guess i just imagined it.

In the "Device Manager" for WinXP, these were the names:
JLMS XJ-HD166S (DVD-ROM)
MAT$HITA DVD-RAM SW-9585 (DVD-RAM/+RW/+R/-RW/-R/+R DL)

(Had to use the Dollar sign, the forum censors a completely innocent drive-maker)

Does my Drive Support Subchannels?

I was meaning to post in this sticky thread a while back, but forgot to. Does anyone know if my DVD-RW Supports Reading/Writing Subchannels? It's a very new drive, only about 7-8 months old.

My drive is a:

Sony Dual Layer DVD-RW DRU-810A , DVD Rewritable drive.

Any info to as whether this supports subchannel Reading/Writing, is greatly apreciated, Thank You

Btw, I realize this thread has not been posted to in about 4-5 months, so I apologize for reviving it, yet once again.

alright this thread is way old---over four years old. most drives support subchannel reading, and even if not, there are plenty of patches out there. i've watched people post in this thread and let it slide, but now i'm fed up, it's really really old. just realize that your drive probably does support subchannels, and if you're not sure, go try it out
