Re: List of cdrom/dvd models supporting subchannel reading.
Mine's a Samsung SD-612 drive and I'm having problems getting FF9 to play (though I can get a directory listing in Windows). I'm using the default CD plugin that came with ePSXe 1.6.0, should I try a different plugin?

Re: List of cdrom/dvd models supporting subchannel reading.
Sorry about this. What is sub channel reading? All I know is that PS1 CD's do not work with my CD-RW. It keeps skipping or something. Doesent Spin Properly. After inserting the disc many times and bending the cd a little holding the sides and pushing the middle up it worked. I am making an ISO while I can.

Re: List of cdrom/dvd models supporting subchannel reading.
The only difference is that some copy protected games won't play. This is caused by the libcrypt protection that sony uses on some PSX disks. If your drive doesn't support it there are some patches available to fix it.

Re: List of cdrom/dvd models supporting subchannel reading.
Maybe it's an obvious question, but: HOW DO U KNOW IF YOUR CD/DVD Drive CAN READ SUBCHANNELS??? Is there a program or utility that tells u that???

Re: List of cdrom/dvd models supporting subchannel reading.
Well, there's a REALLY NICE little prog called DVDRegion-Free that let's you play any DVD on any drive regardless of the drive's region setting. In fact, you can even play the discs WITHOUT setting any region on the drive first (i've never touched my drive's setting!). It works well with my LG DVD/CD-RW combo (don't remember the model, but it's a 16X DVD and 48X 24X 48X burner!) |
