used save states and now memory cards don't work? Fix here!

  1. Go into the memory card dialogue, then click browse on each one, type a name then hit open (also functions as save)
  2. Now go to File > Run Bios (This will create the memory card files,)
  3. Hit escape and set new memory card file names, and click Run > Continue
  4. Ok, now you have 2 sets of memory cards, and theres a good reason for this,
  5. When you load the state it will write the currently selected memory cards as blanks, which is where you've been going wrong basically.
  6. So once the state is loaded, hit escape, then select the other 2 files you created, Resume emulation then save to them,
  7. Then hit escape, and do File > Quit.
This should update the memory card file and write the save data.
(Note:, If you Save a state now, then load it it will also update the memory card files and also contain the memory card data and no longer have this problem in the future (as long as the state doesn't corrupt)

Usually in the chance that the state does corrupt, its most usually only the audio data, so switching to the null audio plugin will allow you to load the state without the emulator crashing.

However, usually when this occurs it also corrupts the memory card data, so KEEP BACKUPS OF THE MEMCARDS!

Note
Steps 1 and 2 solve the following issue
Quote:
Warning: The memcard [memcards/epsxe000.mcr] has NOT been saved to disk
Warning: The memcard [memcards/epsxe001.mcr] has NOT been saved to disk

I have just tried this on my ePSXe emulator and it seriously isn't working.
I'm not blaming you, it's just not working for me at all.
I think I may be doing it wrong.

Make sure folders are NOT read-only.

I've tried several times to make the files AND the memcard folder not read-only. It works with the singular files, but it's not having any effect.

Hey, I know this forum is kinda old now, but Im having the same problem! How to make the file not read only?

5# When you load the state it will write the currently selected memory cards as blanks, which is where you've been going wrong basically.
6# So once the state is loaded, hit escape, then select the other 2 files you created, Resume emulation then save to them,
7# Then hit escape, and do File > Quit.

At step 5 I load it and it says it so at step 6, what do you mean. I hit escape and how exactly do i select the other two files?? and assuming that i did select them, would i just go to where i saved it(under Run, then Save states)? and save as usual?

___
EDIT: i think i figured out what i was asking above, but its still not working??!
