Slowdown problems

I don't know what it is, but whenever I try to load a game on my PSX, cdrom or iso, it starts slowing down after a while, along with my whole computer. I don't know what to do.

The problem most likely lies in the fact that ePSXe is not detected as resource demanding application (which it certainly is)
and your CPU, because of the power saving options downclocks to around 800 Mhz.

So disable any power saving options that you have turned on.

Well, I changed the battery setting to high performance, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything

Are you using VISTA ?
Try setting ePSXe affinity to one CPU (means it uses one CPU).

in the task manager look for the epsxe.exe in the "processes" tab, right click it and go to "set affinity".

do you have anything like vsync, AA or AF being forced onto applications via your video cards control panel? and make sure you have any power saving settings in your video cards control panel disabled or set to performance mode as well. btw post your video plugin config, game fixes menu included.

what version of epsxe are you using, 1.7.0? if you are disable the plugin's FPS limiter and use the emulators internal limiter by toggling it on/off with the F4 key instead. btw what game(s) are you trying to play?

no fullscreen mode runs better than window mode. btw i dont know if you missed it earlier but do you have anything like vsync, AA or AF being forced onto applications via your video cards control panel? and i forgot to mention this, if you are using epsxe 1.7.0 you dont need to have the affinity set to 1 core, this was a bug in earlier versions but was corrected in the release of 1.7.0.

what kind of background apps. do you usually have running? are you using that flashy aero interface in vista? also in the video config set advanced blending to hardware and enter the VRAM amount of your card manually.

edit- btw you need to tick the box to the left of the button that opens up the game fixes menu, otherwise nothing you enable in it will work.

I don't know what interface I'm using, but I am using Vista, so maybe. I just set it to hardware, so I'm going to try that.

There's still quite some slowdown during battles, dependent on how many enemies are on the screen.

There's still quite some slowdown during battles. Could it be the vista interface?
