ePSXe a trojan. WTF?!?
Today I went into my ePSXe folder and my AVG anti virus said that epsxe.exe was a trojan!
Then I found this on google: epsxe.exe - epsxe, mantas worm, Virus Notice! Is anyone else getting this problem? Is AVG just ****ing up and saying this is a trojan when it really isn't? Or is my copy of epsxe really infected with a trojan? I tried renaming epsxe.exe and to something like "emulator epsxe.exe" and AVG would still detect it as a virus. I have epsxe.exe in my virus vault right now. How the Hell will this problem be solved? It seems that those ****ing virus makers decided to name their virus after our favorite PSX emulator. |

I renamed it to "bunny.exe" and it still showed up as a trojan. I then updated my AVG to the latest 8.0 and it still says its a trojan.
So I downloaded a new copy of epsxe160.zip from the epsxe website, and this fresh copy shows up as a trojan. UPDATE: I just got pissed off and added it the directory to the exceptions list. But what if I pick up the actual trojan named epsxe.exe as described here? Last edited by sb iq; May 12th, 2008 at 00:26. |

Same thing with me. Detected as trojan. I did right now 5 minutes ago while loading my games folder. I have shortcuts in there and while the system was loading the shortcuts, i got the warning from AVG. So i decided to download the latest version and it still gets detected as a trojan.
Is it being cross referenced by AVG as another file that's a trojan out there or is it REALLY a trojan? I'm just gonna keep it in my vault for now. |

Yep i can confirm this on my end. I got AVG saying it's a trojan, even the latest version.
Here's another thread on it: http://forums.ngemu.com/generic-epsx...rojan-wtf.html |

this is not possible! if you downloaded ePSXe through it's own website, it's 100% clean.
AVG antivirus might trigger false virus threat because ePSXe was compressed using UPX (which is EXE file compressor, that compress PE information of WIN executable files so it appears different than normal Executable files..) |

No Virus
I've got ePSXe 1.6.0 from Welcome to the official ePSXe website and v7.5 of AVG does not find any threats.
