FF8 Trouble.

I'm having that problem where it stays on a black screen. I've read up on it a little, and I think it's to do with the fact that it's protected? Apparently I have to get a .ppf patch that matches my copy of FF8, but I've looked around and I can't seem to find one for the US version. Would anyone be able to point me to one? It would be very much appreciated!

Thanks~

NTSC games doesn't need ppf patches.
Does that problem occur when you are playing the game, or at the very begnning?
And are you playing from Cd or did you make an ISO?

The problem occurs at the very beginning, and I made an ISO. I think it's a problem with my game itself. It's the greatest hits version, do you think that would make a difference?

Oh well, thanks anyway ^___^

When I choose run CDROM it doesn't load at all, but if I run BIOS then it shows the companies that made it and then goes to a menu screen in which I can't choose anything.

How do I find out my computers specs?

To run ISO click File-->Run ISO.

computer specs:
CPU and RAM: Press windows key + Pause Break
Graphic card: Right click on desktop->Properties->Settings Tab and you will see some monitor on some graphic card.

(heh hushy i think that "how to find computer specs" question should go to FAQ ).

Oh my gosh! It worked!

Thank you SOOOOO much~

Aww, but now it just stops after the before-intro thing. It won't show the title menu.

It doesn't work from the CD either. It plays through all of the credits and then goes to the white screen where it says "Final Fantasy VIII". But it just stops there and stays on that screen until I close it.

Try to use a different video plugin like peops soft plugin, if that doesn't help
try another PSX emulator (PSXeven, PCSX, SSSPSX, pSX).

Black Screen

Hi, I'm getting the same problem.
When I attempt to load the game I just get a black screen.
It's an NTSC game so there's no need for a ppf patch.
Run Bios works fine.

My specs are:

Intel Pentium 4
CPU 2.53GHz
512 MB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440

Does anyone know how to fix this?

by the way, it's better to make your own post...you have more of a chance of people looking at that.

i've got an FF8 problem with both 1.6.0 and 1.7.0 both times when the Ragnarok attempts to blast through the Lunatic Pandora, i get black screen. Not 100% sure if its my settings as i have quite a good graphics card, and anyway if it was my graphics card i would of received the black screen long before the lunatic pandora movie. I haven't tried it on 1.5.0 yet but if and when i have the time i will post results.

Its a PAL version not an NTSC.
