Final Fantasy 6 problem.
I've encountered a problem with the text in the speech 'windows'. When a new 'window' comes up to show a character's speech, the text that was in the window the last time a character said anything is still there, unerased, and just gets written over. This is bad, because if the new text doesnt cover up everything that was said before, there is garbage left over! (well .. some of it is erased *sometimes*. It appears that a rectangle towards the left of the speech window gets cleared *sometimes*...?)
My pc's specs: Win98 SE P3 800 mhz 128 megs sdram (lite-on 52x24x52 cdrw, though I'm running from iso..) Nvidia TNT2 (lovely!); det driver: 30.82 I've tried a number of different gfx plugins: pete ogl, pete dx, pete dx6, and peops. All give me the same results, no matter how I tweak the frame buffer options. I've even tried a second bios which is now off my hd.. lol. I tried inquiring in irc #epsxe but no remedy... someone else has this problem too though: "i'm guessing it's a core issue since it does it with every plugin I try" "I've tried NextSoft, E}I{'s Soft plugin as well as pete's" Uploaded to http://www.mycgiserver.com/~wildsmile/images/snap.bmp is a screenshot taken via F8 goodness that goes with this .txt (I warn you its large): Plugin: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.1.15 Author: Pete Bernert and the P.E.Op.S. team Resolution/Color: - 640x480 Fullscreen - [32 Bit] Stretch mode: 0 Dither mode: 0 Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: on - FPS limit: Auto Misc: - Scanlines: disabled - Game fixes: off [00000000] ... I don't know what all the garbage around the image is, but I don't see that on my screen. I see the normal ff6 image you'd expect that's saved in the top-left of this bmp .. with the text problem I'm blithering about, demonstrated. PS: I'm using the latest epsxe, although I've tried it with 1.5.2. PPS: Any help? PPPS: Hope this helps!

Humbug.
Bah snes version. I want to play the psx version, with the cinema sequences and all their glory! *shakes fist at old psx that he considers broken, even though it technically "runs."* Just a tip for all you people who use a playstation - DONT SPILL MILK IN IT!
Besides, this post was mainly to give the people who make epsxe a problem report... Might help them. That's what the compatibility forum is supposed to be for, no? Oh, and the screenshot that I uploaded which demonstrates the problem is probably not up anymore, or will soon be taken down. I got an email saying that mycgiserver.com won't host me for free anymore, and it's not worth my cash. The screenshot is still on my local hard disk though (for now .. and probably a good while) so if any epsxe guys (or others) want it they can just email me a request at dlovi@ualberta.ca as I check my email much more often than the forums.

Ok lol, I've determined that the problem was created by frame skipping. No one should ever play this game with frame skipping! (unfortunately everything ~else~ was accecptable with frameskip on, and now my machine gives me a lovely fps peaking downward at 22 or so =P )
PS: thanks hushypushy
