Clears up a LOT of confusion as thats the only worthy mod and the extra graphics can be achieved with forcing stuff through in the emulator. Nonetheless, im somebody whowhile is a graphics whore with current games, im perfectly fine with old games as well they are old. However, the field models (models outside of battle right) in this game are shockingly poor.

right but for one thing, if you dont already have the pc version you might want to take note that you are most likely going to be forking out a ****load of cash for it. that version is actually more expenisve and harder to find than the psx version, even more than the original black disc version of FF7 (the other being the greatest hits silvery disk version). i got the pc version somewhat soon after it was first released so i didnt pay much more than its original selling price (about $50-60), but that was a long time ago and now you can go on a site like amazon and see even the used copies going for $100-200, which is downright nuts.

with the battle models, it justs looks really weird imo, but thats just my take on it, you may like it you may not, i just dont feel it looks natural. and like the FF8 pc version, the tracks are all done in MIDI, and trust me, its noticable. and again, you will not be able to use the hardware mode, it is made for one card type and one card type only. now if you could use it, then yes it does look better than the origninal ps version. but there are emulators and plugins out there than case surpass those visuals, so unless you are restricted to using a software plugin for epsxe, everything is still going to look better than the pc version.

Nope its a PC version of the game and is SUPER hard to come across. Apparently it has a few new boss fights or something and ships with a few PC goodies like Desktop avatars

yeah i have no idea then. the pc version i have doesnt seem to include extra bosses or anything like that. but considering how rare you say the version is i wouldnt even want to imagine the price it would go for. overall i would just go with the psx version, unless you are running on that specific card and can handle crappy midi song versions, the psx version is far superior even without enhancements from epsxe.

One major advantage of the PC version is that it can be modded. There are a very large number of mods out there that do things like replace the music with the ps version music, increase the graphics using art from other games etc. I suppose you would have to own the other versions/games to make it legal not sure sounds kind of grey to me. If you look it up on you tube there are several videos of people playing it on the computer with great graphics and music.

ps version ftw

I prefer the ps version because you can raise or lower the frame rate, which is great for speeding up how fast you beat the game...or slowing it down for those hard bosses that you shouldn't be fighting at your lvl XD

i ment speeding through battles just to get them over with since they are frequent and boring at times, not because of how fast i can get through the game.

i have the pc version and it just normal, no extra nothing

i played at my old ati rage 128 with hw 3d

the sound is better in psx, i reccomend to get the psx version, that way you can play at more than 640*480, better music, save anywhere, cheat, better control with or without pad

I played FF7 some time ago: Pc version with various patches that fix compatibility with modern pcs. With 1280x1024 resolution patch, Ati antialiasing and Virtual sound canvas midi, this game becomes f***ing cool!!! faaar better than psx version.

Is there a turbo button???
Does anyone read Pete's documentation included with the plugins, yes there is just go to the graphic plugin options doesnt matter which graphic plugins as long its petes but theres an option to define keys to change options, like enabling and disabling frame limit, as well as a button to define for turbo

Long live the thread (j/k)
Not speaking of patches or others else, psx version is better, music/audio in pc version is really disappointing.
Otherwise, it's easy to use patches on pc version. Almost patches needed can be found easily on wiki's page of qhimm. Pc version also allows people to replace its models by their own. Moreover, a voice-over project has just started <~ a promising project, it's really amazing
