Problem with ePSXe

Im currently running windows XP through a VPC.
Im trying to play FF7 with the ePSXe emulator, but for some reason it just isn't working. The screen goes black, then a message window pops up saying that a problem occurred and it shuts down.

are you playing off the disc or off an image? what does the logger display when you attempt to start the game up, are there any errors mentioned?

Im trying to run the game off the original playstation CD
the error log says the gpupeted3d.dll has the error.

my config. settings are these:
Video: Pete's D3D driver 1.77
Sound: ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0
CDRom: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.7.0
BIOS: SCPH1001.BIN
Netplay: Disabled

im running the VPC off my Mac through OSX Snowleopard.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
