Unhappy Resident evil, epsx and voodoo

I was just wondering if anybody got Resident Evil 2 working using Lewpy's video plugin. When I attempt that, movies play ok but when the game is about to start, epsx locks in loading.

My computer is a P3 600 mhz, 128 megs of ram, atapi cd-rom 56x, soundcard onboard C-media (it sux!) and 16 megs voodoo3 2000 vidcard. I was using Lewpy's gpu plugin with 640x480 fullscreen mode and default settings, plus eternal spu plugin with every setting possible and running from both ISO and cd-rom. That works fine for Castlevania, Ace combat 2, Soul reaver and Legend of Mana but totally fails when I try to play RE2 or even RE3.

And the Lewpy's acellareted graphics seems so cool!

Arrow Thanx but still doesn't work

I've checked/unchecked accurate cd-rom timing, but the problem persists. I just can watch intro movie in both discs 1 and 2 but then epsx freezes when gameplay is about to start...

When I run from ISO the movie gets more smooth, but isn't possible to start...

I can run BH2 using Connectix VGS but the graphics r really blocky... it will be nice watch some accelarated stuff...

I faced the same problem when "accurate cd rom timing" wasnt enabled but since you have enabled accurate cd rom timing I wonder what may be the problem.?:confused:

What versions of RE-2 and RE-3 you are trying to run ?
Did you tried to run it in fpse and still gives same problem?

Fpse is another very good playstation emulator.It plays many games.It was supposedly dead but now it looks its coming back to life again.
Here for more info and downloads.

My friend has the same version of RE2 as yours and it works perfectly in epsxe.If you run it any other compatible emulator that will check whether the problems lies with your cd or not.

Wink it's a difficult match

I've download FPSXE and I used it, then it WORKED... but not as I was expecting!

While bilinear filtered graphics (awesome ones, 640x480 quality)were there, there was three painful downsides tough:
a) MDECs play with inversion between red and blue - that seems really psychdelic ;
b) sound gets terribly choppy;
c) frame rate drops down a lot.

In epsx I noticed a curious fact, I've waited the game demo following the title screen and, for my surprise, demonstration worked fine in Police Station statues demo sequence (spetacular graphics, enjoyable FPS) . In the second demo (streets/upstairs), tough, demo starts well but then game locks when Leon is about to turn the corner after go upstairs. Seems like lewpy's plugin is capable of do it, but some buggy crap prevents epsxe suceeds...

I'm about to give up and use Connectix VGS, 'cause the only trouble is the ugly and blocky graphics, everything else (sound, lightning effects, blood and MDECs) are working fine..

That's a hard choice.

Go to www.aldostools.com and download the video patch for the VGS. It'll let you play VGS at a smaller screen but less pixely and blocky graphics.

A tricky way to have some 3dfx stuff

Well, I finally found a way to play using bilinear filtered graphics... I've started the game using connectix, so I saved the game in the memory card. Once connectix memory card is fully compatible with epsx, I've loaded the memcard on epsx and... voilá. It works. Now I can play RE2 or even 3 using Lewpy's gpu plugin. Really awesome visuals! Enough of blocky characters! Just one side effect... frame rate droped a lot, in a room with a bunch of zombies things turn in slowmotion... but that not really bothers me.

One more time I must to say thanks to everyone that helped me and hopefully we soon will can put our greedy hands in a improved epsx pack!

Hmm... a final word: using the paid bleem! I got very disappointing results comparing with the entirely free Epsx!
