ff9 problem

hi
I patched up my PAL version of ff9 and ran the iso. All worked and everything however, when i get to the part in the game where it asks for the main characters name, it gets buggy.
It asks for me to choose the characters name and then press confirm. However, when i press the X button, it just moves the cursor up and down.

I can't use the X button in game. I checked the joypad settings and the x button was the "x" button on my keyboard but ingame, it doesnt work. What wrong??

Look into the Gamecontroller settings of windows in the control panel if everything's working fine.

I'm not sure if this would help you. Maybe it crashes the next time you have to enter a name, too.

Which directx version do you have? Download the latest one if necessary (8.1) here.

Tony: It's the opposite scenario (keyboard, no controller - or at least no mentioned controller). If there are no other possibilities, I'd suggest borrowing a controller from a friend to see if it works. The keyboard can be problematic in some emulators.
