Unhappy How do i optimise FF9?

Hi guys! i'm totally new to epsxe and FF9, so kinda need your help!
in the epsxe menu, there's a cheat option. can gameshark cheat codes be used here?
when i run FF9, the entry-into-battle-animation was always replaced by a white screen. is there any way to change that?
my system is
Win Me,
1 Gig Htz,
32mb NViDIA TNT2 m64,
creative soundblaster live.
i'm using Pete's OpenGL...

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.54
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce2 MX/PCI

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - Desktop changing [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- depends on card's driver
- Filtering: 0
- Caching: dynamic

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 200

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: standard
- Framebuffer texture: 3
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: off
- Advanced blending: off

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Full vram: off
- Game fixes: on ( FF9 game fix )

Thanks!!!!!!

No.. The cheat option in epsxe is not for gameshark cheat codes.. You can use PEc or CEP for gameshark cheat codes for psx.. Get PEc at www.aldostools.com Read all the documents that come with it.. Infact read all the documents that come with epsxe and it's pluggins..

You can fix your white screen before battles by:

1. Set Framebuffer textures to "hardware"
2. Set Framebuffer textures to "software" and enable "FUll Vram Primitives"

In either case, you will get slowdown..

Plus I think the swirl effects don't quite work properly with petes pluggins in FF9.. They work pretty good with lewpys glide pluggin but it's only for voodoo cards..

I just started playing FF9 and it's working pretty near perfect. Even the swirl goes without slowdown. Since you've got a similar gfx card try my settings.

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.55
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce2 MX/PCI/SSE

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - Desktop changing [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8A8A8
- Filtering: 6
- Caching: 2

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 2
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Full vram: off
- Game fixes: on [00000200]

For sound use Iori's DirectSound Driver 1.4, at the select sound plugin screen check everything but the last one (SPU IRQ...)

In it's configuration, check everything but "wait for XA buffer" and "show realtime config".

You should also use an ISO for games that load up 2d backgrounds so there is no slowdown when entering another room.

PS: Lots of people have problems with setups for certain games. Next time you can't get a game to work perfectly try searching for it on the boards. You'll probably find a configuration that works well with your system and you'll learn a lot.

you want to optimize FF9??

heres what you do chhange petes opengl and use D3d its alot more faster in thhe world map...

i also use nvidia tnt2... got problems in world map so i shifted to d3d...

screen mode=use whatever you want
color depth=16bit
filtering=ext. wth smooth sprites

texture=8888
cahching= dynamic

offsreen=3
blending=2
framebuffer=2

and the game fixes... thats it

and also use eternal SPU with audio it works swiftly
