Translation: the emulator has caused an error when trying to access the pad (Which is accomploished via Dinput). Have you tried it with any games to see if they work? If these generate similar errors the problem can be narrowed to your wiring. Also run dxdiag to see if there are any problems with the drivers (you can access this program by typing 'dxdiag' into the run box).

Ensure you are running the latest drivers for your control pad with the latest version of DirectX.

Isn't Directx for graphics? I had no idea that it involved controllers. Well I guess I know what I'll need to fix if my controller doesn't work.

No DirectX isn't just for graphics. Ever heard of Direct Sound, Direct input? It sounds like you have a problem with Direct input, so getting the latest drivers for your contoller and DirectX may help. Also this could be a problem with the emulator it's self, so that will need to be updated. OK!
