Chrono Cross disc change problem?

For some reason when I go to change discs at the halfway point, I can't get past the prompt for Disc 2. I've tried hitting all sorts of buttons. Is there something special I need to do?

There is a problem with savestates... Sometimes the savestate name changes to SLUS_99.99.99! This has happened with many games like Chrono Cross, Crash Bandicoot 2... I would like to know what causes this, does anyone know?
