This may be a ridicoulously retarted question but,
what type of code does the ePSXe read for cheats?
i've tried with gameshark cheats but no go
Can anyone help?

you need a program like pec or cep to input cheat codes. the internal cheat function in epsxe is only for sepcific hotfixes.
you can get the programs at aldostools.com or here at ngemu.com: http://www.ngemu.com/psx/epsxe.php?page=download

i've entered the codes into algo's tools
saved them correctly and exported them to a cht file correctly
but after I select them from the cheat drop down menu I can't get them to work in the game.

help me please!

I have been using CEP from some time now and recommended it to many people.BTW I think I downloaded it from psxemu site itself so no need to go searching on the web.

Find the shark codes(available on hundreds of websites) and enter them manually and I hope you will have some relief from pain.
