Re: cdrom plugin
TSG's is the most compatible for win9x/me usage. I doesn't work in NT/2k at all because it uses the dos cdrom driver.
Just as an example, I have a Tekram SCSI card, Plextor drives, and the most recent ASPI layer. I think because of the Tekram card I can't use any of the ASPI plugins. TSG works perfectly fine for me though.

Re: cdrom plugin
RVWinkle: remember you need the correct ASPI drivers for your SCSI card, so don't use the Adaptec ones if you have another make of SCSI card. The Adaptec ones are fine for Adaptec SCSI cards, and IDE controllers. Either check the Tekram website for the right ASPI drivers, or visit the website of the manufacturer of the specific SCSI chip that Tekram have used on your model of SCSI card: they have used about 5 or 6 different manufacturers chips, depending on the model of card.
Note: I think Adaptec are the only SCSI card manufacturer to release ASPI drivers for all Win32 platforms (Win9x & WinNT). In my experience, other manufacturers have only released for one platform (Win9x OR WinNT). |

Re: cdrom plugin
Is TSG any faster than the internal CD-rom plugin? The CD stutters after things like battles in FF7 with the internal one, or is it the problem of my CD-R drive at 24 times read speed. Is that too slow? My other drive is a DVD-rom and that's even slower, so I have no choice.

Re: cdrom plugin
try a speed limiting program you can find at TweakFiles they have a collection - try reducing your cdrom to like 32x or 48x you'll get a major speed boost. If you want the ultimate speed boost use ISO files...

You should limit the CDrom speed to 2x because that's the speed of a real PSX CD drive.
