:confused: there is no patching system in epsxe..
there are 2 things:

the cht files - these are specific game fixes that are made to workaround certain bugs/crashes. you need to load these in order to get past the crash..

backup image patches - these have nothing to do with epsxe. these things fix protection issues for certain games that were made to keep you from playing backups on a psx. however, some of these protection schemes cause incompatability with epsxe and so they need to be patched.

On the first option, is there any website that has a list of the fixes of this type that have been released? I've been looking for them for a while now, just in case. I heard that the only ones available are the ones that come with the ePSXe installer, but I've seen more on the news page of www.psxemu.com ocassionaly. Thanks.
