Question

When starting some (maybe all I don't know) psx games I get this really boring and uninteresting legal notices that I schould call customer service if I suspect that I'm using a pirated product.... bla bla

I Also see the name of the company wich created the game for pretty long time.

When trying different configs this is pretty time consuming.
For example when I first used epsxe and tried to get it working I lost very much time on restarting those damn "intros". (the first game I tried ff7 had 1min8sek intro )

I know that I can use savestates, but for some games (like ff7 which I play a lot) the new epsxe buggs the game...

Is there a way to get rid of them?

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

There's an option to disable the mdecs (i.e. intros and movies) it may cause instability though.

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

The intro screens of FF7 are no mdecs, they are some stupid coded
interlaced pictures (as far as I remember the FF7/FF8 Sony screen is
forcing my plugins to upload each screen line seperately... pfff... very slow).

You can speed it up by disabling offscreen drawing (the screens will
get screwed, of course), but don't forget to turn it on again in the
ingame-gpu-menu after the sony screens.

Smile Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

Thx! With offscreen drawing off The "intro" in ff7 was about 20 sek faster...
But Pete, what do you mean with ingame-gpu-menu?
I use epsxe and If I "pause" the emu I can't change video/sound/cd-rom/country settings... Maybe you can change it in epsxe 1.20 I havent tried that...

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

if you use pete's D3D plugin, hit the Delete key, then toggle the speed with the End key
i do it all the time

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

yup, DELETE will show you the FPS and the gpu menu, PAGEUP/DOWN will place
an arrow at the option you want to change (hint: it's OD for offscreen drawing ),
and the END key will change the option

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

Pete, should I used enhanced offscreen drawing or extended for FF7? Standard doesn't show the cursor when you select the lowest level magic. (eg. Fire, Cure, Bio...)

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

"enhanced" is fine, as far as I remember... "extended" is only needed in
combination with "full vram", if you want to see the battle intro swirls
(slow!!!)

Re: Can I get rid of the "intro"?

Oh, and another FF7 note: epsxe 1.2 tends to crash on
certain movies... better use version 1.0.1 (no save states that
way, of course).
